    Ahhh FFs......clutch pedal snapped!

yesterday I was reading a thread about how to repair a snapped clutch pedal, thinking, ill read it when it happens to me. little did I know next day going to work, put in in 3rd, as soon as I lift of the pedal snap, and litle buts of plastic in the footwell. I knew exactly what it was. now I gotta wait in the bloody cold for the insurance company to open so they can send recovery for me. I'm in the middle of nowhere aswell to make this worse! great start to a Friday ah

Just drive it without the clutch! I had to put it in 1st gear with engine off. Start car with some gas and get ready to fly off down the road. Then you have to pop it our of gear and rev match to change gear. It's a bit fiddly but I got home 10 miles away so I could work on it at home and not wait for the AA.

When you get a new pedal it might be worth popping into a garage and asking them to put a bit of extra weld on it to strengthen it because they are a bad design.

Is it still on the original clutch? If so I'd take a snapping pedal as a sign that it may soon be on its way out. I found the pedal started to get heavier before my clutch went and I reckon the extra weight contributes to the pedal snapping....

cheers lads, wish I red this before I got towed home. I did try putting it in gear with some revs but I guess I didn't give it enough. so does this mean I need a nee pedal or can I repair the original one. I noticed black and white plastics buts in the footwell once it happend.

still on standard clutch. will get a vr6/g60 done next month

cheers westy. will have a read of that thread in a sec.

I called Mr clutch and they want 80quud to weld it back. I was thinking I could use some chemical metal weld which should do the trick I hope?

I'd be surprised if chemical metal held it together long term to be honest, it takes a fair bit of leverage to push the rod into the cylinder.
