on the little screen on the dash it doesnt tell me the temp outside .. should it? just seen a pic of an s3 which is older than mine and its showing the outside temp? is it only s3's tht do!?

I would think that it should have it, maybe non turbo a3's had to have it as an extra, do you have the display in the centre of your dials?

i have got a display when i start the car it says ok! but then just goes off...

I've got the same display on a 2001 TDI Sport, with the big orange OK at start up. It doesn't have the outside temperature, mpg etc function. Just the doors open, OK, service mileage when it becomes due, and standard warning symbols.

press the button on the right hand stick its like on the under side of the stalk then it should come up

ahh well that is pretty gay, all i can suggest is if you get in your car and you have a nipple on take it as its cold out side and if you've got a sweaty sack its warm.
