Im guessing its a case of fit them without spacers and guage it from there.
What offset are the new rims?
I have an S3 so my numbers willnt realy help but i run 15mm rear spacers and 10mm front on ET32 wheels meaning im realisticaly running ET17 rear and ET22 on the front.

the offset is 35 mate
I would expect 10mm all round would be doable but... not sure what a realy low A3 would catch on, Also what tyre size have you got planned? 225/40/18 an an 8j wheel??

I have a pair of 10mm FK hubcentric spacers for sale if you want em? No bolts though.
i have coilovers all the way to the bottom on rear (adjuster still fitted) and front matched (inch or so from bottom on joms)
et35 18x8j with 225/40/18. had to fit audi tt anti roll bar. just about knocking chassis leg on hard left hand cornering.
i have 10mm spacers on front and 16mm on back.
front arch lips had to be rolled. front and rear have worn through the plastic arch liner. fronts hit front arch liner where it attaches to the bumper too. it also rubs on the inner arch near the engine if that makes sense. rears rub on big dips as do fronts.
i did have 5mm on front and 10mm on rear with no rubbing. but the inside of the tyre rubbed the coilovers.
basically lots of rubbing but it goes away once plastic has worn a bit. looks ace imopain in the arse it what others will say.

With your wheel size I'd say go for 10mm front and 15mm rear.
