As title says, i got round to fitting my facelift headlights to my pre facelift A3 last week, after a bit of a mare figuring out the wiring, i finally got them to work properly but........
the 35w 6000k HID's that i had in my old lights are really quite a bit more dim in the facelift projectors. does anyone know if this is normal???
and should i go for a 55w 8000k set to brighten them up a bit???

You probably find they're "more dim" because the lights actually being put in the correct place now, rather than scattering all over the shop and blinding everyone.

Are they actually proper H7 HID's? If not the alignment of the filament within the projector assembly may be incorrect.

55w bulbs and ballasts will make it brighter, but dont goto 8000k that just stupid. 4300k emits the most usable light, which is why OEMs use it.

As mentioned 4300k is OEM, also not sure if you are aware or not, but the higher the K rating, the less light output, it just make the light bluer/purpler.

As a max, I would probably say a good compromise would be 6k.
