Hi people.
Sorry to post a new thread but i have searched for the last week or so now to try and find answers to my questions with some luck but often about slightly different models/engines etc.
Bought a 1997 1.8t 150, 108k on the clock, for a bargain price. Had a 2004 1.4 clio previous that was falling apart (obviously) with only 62k on the clock! damn the French! Anyway as you can imagine its a slightly nicer car, all be it far older, cant beat german engineering! I want to get the car running smoothly to make sure i get a good life out of it, so planning on getting cambelt changed (not too sure when last one was done due to lack of service history) and a full service very soon.
Anyway, there's a couple of other things with the car i wanted to know with regard to faults and changes i want to make:
1) The facelift rear lights from the 2000 onwards models with clear indicator section, are they a straight swap for the older ones that i have?
2) The engine can sometimes turn over a few too many times before actually starting, sometimes requiring me to press the accelerator to give it some gas and get started, this is intermittent but still a concern. Spark plugs? Something more pricey? (excuse my lack of knowledge)
3) The engine temp very rarely raises at all, not even to 90, seems like the dial may be broken or the thermostat has gone. It occasionally does rise to the standard 90 or sometimes hovers around 70-80, but most of the time it just rests at the lowest reading. From reading a lot of threads it seems to be a stat issue, but is there anything else that could cause this? The fans work fine etc and nothing else seems to be effected by this so im hoping it is just a stat issue.
Finally, here's a couple of pictures of the car . . .
Just after a wash and wax . . .
The interior. . .
Thanks people!
