clocking a k04 turbo

is it possible to clock a Ko4 turbo compressor housing so i can retain my boost pipes location on my a3?

Not really, for 2 reasons. 1st if you just clock it to get past the manifold I points straight at the firewall and there's room to get the boost pipe on. 2nd the actuator won't fit as the locating holes are out. Best and only way is to mate the outlet of a k03/s to the k04 compressor housing. Cut and weld.

K04 turbo and mani sits further up and further to the gearbox end than the K03... it also sits closer to the back of the engine...

It would be easier to fabricate the charge pipe than modify the turbo comp housing... see Prawns thread as he has fitted a K04 to his A3 and has sorted the pipe work...

what intercooler pipework do you have at the moment? is it standard AGU charge pipe stuff, or an aftermarket front mount?

if it's an aftermarket kit, your best bet it to mount up the ko4, put your ko3 pipework in place, and just work out what combination of bends you'd need to join the two together.

I recently fitted a ko4 to my AGU track car, and eventually decided to do away with my old intercooler setup totally and just come up with my own pipe route, wasn't hard realy, and the results are great.

Hi prawn yeh its all standard at the minute. How did you go about fitting the 3inch tip. Or as tuffty says the mani sits further up so does it clear everything alright.

what diameter pipe work have you used prawn.

badger 5 80mm TIP fits as it's a ko4 turbo, there's a slight interface with the gear cables, but it's not too bad.

manifold is indeed XS power, as is the downpipe, very happy with it all so far.

Pipework on mine is 63mm the whole way from the turbo to the throttle body.

Didn't realise you'd painted your rocker cover orange, mine's orange as it matches my colour scheme
