knocking noise

i have the a3 1.8t auto

im expeirencing some weird exhaust like knocking when in D 1 2 3 R????
when N is selected it stops?
ive checked the exhaust clearence and seems to be ok??

any ideas where to go next?
there no noises when driving only when stationary?

Engine/Gearbox mounts
Exhaust rubbers - check for free play in the exhaust the rubbers, mountings & conponents (ie) heat shield.
All steering & suspension wishbone conponents if it's feels the nocking noises comes through the steering wheel.

limited play in exhaust,

cant feel it through the steering

I have a nocking noise also when moving mine turnt out to be bottom ball joint. Don't always feel it through the steering. Could be anything from top donut to wishbones to anything tiny like a bolt :-( I hope you find the problem soon, let us know if u find it.

My partner whos a mechanic said - hows your brakes? They could be stuck on to cause the nocking noise
