A3 1.8T AGU gearbox question

Hello everyone!!!

Last day my gearbox fail. It could not put in first gear in second goes really hard, but the clutch is fine....
I was wondering if any other 1.8t late models (2001-2003) gearbox will fit to my 1999 AGU engine?

how did it fail, were you driving it at the time? or you just got in the car and the gearbox was broken?

The car was parked when happened. I put in reverse and tried to start. Then I heared a "nock" noise like gearbox is jamed or something and car dies. Start the car again and found I could not put IN 1st gear as usual, it was harder. Once in gear tried to start again and the same as in reverse happened. I think is the gear box broken.

Friend of mine have a golf 1.8t 2002 complete gearbox for spare.
So I wonder if it will it fit my 1999 AGU engine?
