Help needed key fob issue

just changed the batteries on my 2001 s3 feyfob and the remote wont work ive followed the manual's instructions press unlock and use the key within a minute it dont work tried all sorts of suggestions anyone shed some light on this common issue

i'd say you've used a dud battery, rom what i understand the keyfob is hard coded, even if you leave the battery out for days / months, it keeps it's identity, it's the keyfob that is then programmed to the car

so changing the battery would't cause a problem, unless you changed it for a dud battery, why did you change the battery anyways? was it useless, even when next to the car?

i am sure other will let you know if i am correct or not
