so i went for a remap today and we faced a problem. The car doesnt respond by adding any more fuel, eventough the guy requested a lot of fuel in his map. AFR stays around 14, which is very lean for a turbo engine.

What do you think the problem is? fuel pumps? air mass?...any other thought?

the fuel pumps should be ok, it was rebuilded 6 months ago.

Did he not log what was going on? have you got the logs? block 031 will show you request vs actual... if the request is 0.95 ish then its the map thats asking for the right fuel... as yours is wideband fuelling is not tied into load explicitly like narrow band ecu's... block 001 will show you live lambda adjust..

If he hasn't logged this stuff while mapping your car I would be a little concerned as to the tuners abilities tbh... its easy to see whats going on as the ME7.5 tells you loads of stuff..

Maybe he is adjusting fuel in the wrong tables...

What boost is that?

If the fuel pump was on its way out it typically manifests itself as going leaner under boost... as I say, log it all in VCDS and it will become clear... checking for fault codes may help too..

the first graph is for stock map, with 3" downpipe decatted, and exhaust manifold.

i will attach the run with the remap attempt

log 031 will have confirmed request vs actual according to ecu.

get that data and post it up... it may reveal whats occuring... along with block 001 under wot condition same as dyno was done with.

The tuner is the official dealer of dimsports here, and many of my freinds have done their maps there. The prob is, none was a vag car....mostly evo, subaru, bmw, porsche.... so he must be good...but who knows.

I have the ebay vag-com...i will try to log block 031 and 001 and post it up.

hmmm.. I reflashed a car which had dimsport map on it and it was also lean as you liek factory 0.9x lambda under boost (as requested)
(their credentials mean nothing if not familiar with the brand they are working on... and logging the cars ecu directly .... which does'nt sound like they have?)

do the logs and this will be confirmed as the issue or not

you would'nt be the first

Sadly my cheap vag-com doesnt allow to log 031 :(

There is no faults on block 001 exept emission sensor.

The guy doenst have a vcds or vagcom, so maybe thats why we couldnt do it at his shop. He tried to use autoboss but also showed no faults.

I hope that he will figure it out tomorrow....i still have 3 more days to work on the car then i am back to work (in Canada).

unless you log 031 you are screwed.
get vcds it will save you $$ and possibly and engine if running uber lean

The dimsport software is basic and IMO should not be used to tuned 1.8T ME7/2.0TFSi MED9 code as it misses 1000s of maps. (Its good software for derv tuning)

The 2 main maps to control the lambda in the me7 ecu are.
LAMBTS Post condition lambda for component protection and cooling when engine reaches x load @ x EGT.
LAMFA Pre condition Enrichment lambda when driver demands x load at x rpm via throttle pedal.

In most 1.8T maps the LAMBTS and LAMFA are set to lambda 1' in some cases with a stage1 remap the tuner can just change LAMFA and run it to 12.5 under load. or if its a strong map then LAMBTS map can be used to enrich the lambda to compromise power to protect the manifold and turbo.

(With the MAF faulty or unplugged the lambda request will be 0.953 across the whole RPM range, it will only go richer it there is another map requesting a richer lambda, the ecu will ALWAYS use the richest lambda map)

Like Bill said you cannont tune these engines without the right logging tools or the know how.

could it be the 02 sensor?

dude.
*** - I wont say it again after this

See what 031 requested lambda value is doing with vagcom/vcds along with 001 so you can requested fueling and adjustments being made to achieve this value (or not!)

you are wasting your time until you get this basic thing done.

Bill i will be logging what you proposed in my next vacation, and i will probably be getting the B5 tip :). The car is sitting in my garage till june/july.

Will i have to buy a new authentic vag/vcds or i can get my ebay one licensed? I have the 409.1 ebay cheapo, it works fine but as we all know, lacking many usefull blocks.

All things considered buying the full version with the proper lead is one of the best investments you can make IMO...

VCDS is going to be your friend.
Good purchase.. you will be much better with it.
I predict the map is'nt requesting the fueling... not that its not doing what its told.
