My 98 1.6 SE gearbox has gone

how much am i going to be looking at does anyone have any ideas or had it done before

depends on the price of a gearbox, search the breakers.

put a clutch in as well they dont cost alot

mine went and with me mates use of gareage took us 3.5 hours to change recon box cost me £480 cash exchange but the problem is finding them as breakers get them out as fast as there in but get a recon one and ask if they have moddified the rivets in the diffs crown pinion to bolts which vw now supply a kit for as the rivets are a common downfall of the boxes and shear.
not a huge task to do i also put in a new clutch.

yea the company on ebay charge over 600 fo a re con 1 hopefully i can source 1 cheaper
