HID replacements

I have an x-reg facelift S3. I want to know how much my HIDs have faded over the years.
they have never been replaced and I'm just wondering how much they may have diminished over the years and whether or not it's worth buying new bulbs?
If I do replace them do I need new ballasts or just new bulbs? (ive never changed HIDs before...)
And what luminicty do I buy (to match current std spec?)

It will be just the bulbs you need,
I have recently upgraded to 6000k , this is an upgrade not standard, i think they are something like 4200k ( not sure so check )
I bought from ebay, From Audi i think the one i replaced a couple of years back was £65 or something ( i got my upgraded ones for about £25 for the pair on ebay )

I havent but i could try if you cant find one,
They arent BLUE or PINK just a very clear crisp white, Just what i was looking for, I fitted LED side lights too to get rid of the "fried egg"

Cool, sounds just what I had in mind. And the LED side lights would look way better. Do you have an MOT issue using the LEDs for side lights?

No problems with the side lights at all at MOT time.
Its never even been mentioned
