Petrol smell comes and goes

Evening lads any ideas on this one!
I keep getting a really strong smell of petrol in the car but it only stays for a couple of days and it only seems to do it when I really boot it ????
I dropped a cogg today and she juddered a little bit then stunk of petrol for a few seconds then went again!

I'm thinking fuel pump or filter

Iv ditched that carbon can and vented it out through the wheel arch but that was months ago

But just as I'm writing this my car just died on idle ????
And it's never done that in my 5 years of ownership???

It's started again sweet
Think I've got fuel issues ?

Hey dude have you cleaned your throttle body in awhile? I done mine with brake cleaner and its sorted my dodgy idle and my stalling aswel as the strong smell of exhaust gas.

Ha are you thinking it may be cranck case housing?

I thought mine was broke but turns out my TB was mankey

You might have a split in one of the PCV hoses. Have you checked them over yet?

Throttle body is spotless

It runs like dream on idle no change at all
