Just having a look at a remap for the new car, REVO have a 10% discount and they did my A3 which went very well but near on 400 is still quite a lot so thought I'd try thinking outside the usual suspects...has anybody used Celtic Tuning or South West in Car Tech? They are the biggest folks near to me in Devon and I'm definately not going to put any dodgy software on my new baby, so just checking peoples opinions on a well covered topic ( nothing came up for these on search )
Any thoughts or experiences appreciated....
Russ

I cant speak for the other but Mark at south west in car tech is fantastic and really knows his stuff.

He charges around £300 for the custom map and will dyno your vehicle on his rolling road to maximise performance based upon your cars specification (mainly airflow).

I've been up there quite a lot these last couple of years (actually after each major mod) to adjust the mapping. Everyone has there own approach and take on intake, airflow and such like and mark will advise accordingly, making you aware of everything you may/may not know already.

Essentially, the map is a custom code and you are not limited to a set level of performance found in many other maps.

Mark, if i recall correctly, is a graduate in automotive technology (or such like) and is incredibly knowledgeable.

Personally, I cannot recommend him highly enough and even got my old man to take his BMW x5 sport down for a map. His 4.5 litre m sport diesel now puts out 514lb of torque...incredible!

Funnily enough I'll be there Wednesday as he want to dyno my s3 pre and post a new custom tip.

I also call him prior to any mods to asses pro's and cons and in doing so i probably do his head In...but he's always willing to help.

Infinity exhausts is also next door and also worth a visit too if you ever fancy a stainless exhaust at the same time. Martin runs/owns it and his products are immense too for very competitive prices. That's were I got mine from too.

If you do speak to mark, say that James from greenwoods recommended him.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't do it Russ!!

Hold on & go to badger5 it's not that far up the M5 for us,
I've been to Celtic myself & a few mates still go down there with van's.
They are also custom code & have a rolling road & the price is the same ish.

B5 play's with these engines day in day out & from reading through a few threads He's right on it.

Its a case of personal preference on the day and very much each to his own with personal preference dictating.

Some providers are much more active on here with there views and service provision but it doesn't make them better or worse, just different.

They will all specialise in VAG and no one can knock until they try.

I can say that I have heard very good things about bill at badger5 and mark at swict if that's helps.

Badger 5 is my first choice, its always interesting getting opinions of other mappers though as we only normally hear of B5, R-TECH or AMD and I'm sure there are other good people out there!
Any suggestions keep em coming!

Pat, it's still on for a road trip to B5 in the early new year whatever.....

I'm up for that Russ!
Don't get me wrong mate, Celtic tuning have done a good job on my old VW's & mates vans.
I think we are better off going B5
