gearbox noise

AGAIN??? there's a noise that comes from the gearbox at idle, it's like there's something loose and when i step on the clutch it goes away...i had before and 'twas covered by warranty so never bothered to ask what it was...

anyone have any clue as to what it could be? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif? I'm thinking it might be the thrust bearing..but the clutch was only changed some 30k kms ago and I' never stressed the clutch or anything.!

sounds like the release bearing, if im right it is a complete hydraulic unit, which if this is the case would not have been changed unless it was leaking or noisey.

i may be wrong so dont take it as a definate

Bad news, it seems like the gbox is done for and needs a whole lotta cash to fix! ish!!! I had it done 'just' 30k km's back, how could it break again!!!? this is at VW/AUDI gbox specialist mind you. anyway, I think this car has been nothing but trouble to me...i love it to bits but the downtime I've had with it is just not worth it anymore...

I do hope that maybe I just ended up with a lemon but right now, I'm not buying another AUDI!!

Hi 663KAY, really sympathise, not funny at all when these things go wrong and you have no warranty, seems Audi are worse than most at helping after the warranty has expired too as I know friends that have had 8 year old BMs sorted as a goodwill gesture, not with Audi as far as I can tell...

Just hoping that I'll be getting my S3 back from AmD tomorrow!
