Quantum Platinum 5w-40 for S3 BAM????

Hi,

Sorry to start a new thread about oil again lol.

Am just about to change my oil & picked up above make & grade for good price.

Just a little confused about VW spec. I know they state this car should have 5w-30 & longlife but want to get away from the longlife service & change yearly.

My concerns are the confusing numbers. Even though this oil states for use in high performance petrol and diesel engines the codes VW 505 00 / 505 01 seem to relate more to diesel engines on the web????

Is this good for my S3 2002 BAM engine???

Please advice before changing my oil tomorrow??

Yep, that's fine. I ran my S3 AMK on Synta Gold for many years before it became more difficult to get hold of (if you can still get it all). If anything, the Platinum is over-specced for what you need if you're doing fixed servicing.

I now just use generic fully synthetic 5w/40 from whoever is selling it the cheapest.
