Hi guys,

Not sure if everyone has seen the ad in the trading section I posted, but thanks to the kind moderators I have permission to post this up here as it generates more interest direct to those who can benefit.

I have access to 5 OEM rear spoilers for the Audi S3. Many A3 owners such as myself want one of these at some point as all the after market ones are crap (well IMO). A group buy from VAGparts would be £132 + vat, and to buy direct from Audi they are £150 + vat! I can get them for us for £80 ALL IN!!! Yes that means vat and delivery.

I have already received mine and can vouch for the quality and it all being totaly OEM. Here's a pic:

The cost of getting it sprayed would be approx £50, so you would get it sprayed and fitted for chepaer than just buying it from Audi!.....oh and it already comes primed!

It is certainly a rarity for any of these to come up for sale in brand new condition, most people have to get them from a breakers and then get them resprayed.

I have access to 5, and there are 3 left! PM me for any further details/interest you have.

First come first served!

Thanks all.

How much difference is there between the normal spoiler and s3 spoiler? if any??

[/ QUOTE ]

If you are talking about the normal A3 spiler, there is a big difference. The A3 spoiler is weeny! The S3 spoiler its alot more noticeable!

Rich

the S3 spoiler is the best in my opinion... it follows the roofline & complements the shape of the car.

i was looking at all the other options but when i saw an S3 one available i had to get it!

yep - agree with all comments on the spoiler there fellas!

OK the list is complete. I also have people on reserve....typical it's quiet for ages and then everyone wants one. can EVERYONE confirm via a PM to me and that they also have a paypal account as this is needed. If you don't, goto www.paypal.com and sign up, it's free and simple to use - I will send you all details on whom to send the money to and by when (as a guide I am hoping Wednesday will be the deadline for all money - yes it's a bit of short notice, but the buy has been open for a while, just advertised in a quieter section).

Thanks for the interest guys, and thanks to the mod team for letting me advertise here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

I wouldn't say there is that much difference to be honest:

Not much of a difference I agree, but the S3 one still looks best /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I see what you're saying mark, and that's why there was no way on earth I would pay Audi prices /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif however I have looked at quite a few S3's and with the little changes I have made to the rear of the car I think it will compliment them and make my car look a bit chunkier from the back:.

I would have thought you would have wanted an S3 spoiler...is this why you decided to ebay yours?

Rob /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

...also that pic of HTC's looks like the rear spoiler is a bit bigger than mine (unless it's just the angle of the piccie) are you sure that's the standard A3 rear tailgat spoiler, because if not there is a bit more of a considerable difference...

Hi guys,

Everyone has PM'd with instructions what to do. If anyone thinks I have missed them out or has concerns please get in touch!

------------------------------------------------

I hold no responsibilities for your purchase. I have every faith you will be chuffed with the purchase and once fitted it will look great! I can only give you my feedback on the spoiler I bought previous to the group buy, I am merely doing this to help forum members out and gaining nothing for my troubles – please respect that. With the spiel over I can confirm the quality/delivery and genuine overall of these spoilers is brilliant.

------------------------------------------------

Thanks very much.

Rob /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Mark,

The pictures dont tell the truth. In the flesh there is a considerable difference in the depth of the spoiler.

how do you attach the spoiler to the rear of car ? ie whats it stuck on with ? cheers

There are 4 locatin metal pillars on the spoiler..These need to be cut off! In place of these use some sealent/adhesive such as Silkaflex or Tigerseal which will stick anything to anything with great force! I plan to sand down the paint under the spoiler a little first so that its got a rough surface to stick to better.

Rich

Sorry guys I messed up a teeny bit....I didn't take into account the paypal charges! D'oh! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bang.gif so could everyone pay the sum of £83 for the spoiler.

My sincere apologies for the mess up, it's just otherwise I will end up paying money out of my own pocket! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Everyone has been PM'd!

Thanks!

Rob

There's one more spoiler back up for grabs! Unfortunatley someone had to pull out (not down to the fact of the £3 increase before everyone asks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif it was for other reasons - hope you get it sorted fella /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Anyone interested let me know.

Thanks

Rob

p.s. sorry for the delayed replies whilst at work (9-5) but in a busy office, being inspected and having to run this site on my mac with sh!tscape...I mean netscape - which = slowwwwwwwww.....oh and yeah Ido actually have to work too! lol /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Can you get anymore in the future ?

[/ QUOTE ]

......possibly. It's VERY rare indeed for anything like this to come up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Typically lots of people have been asking after the completion - guess that's the law of the sod.

If I hear anything I will let you know, but it would probably be in the very near future and the price may be a bit more as quantities would no doubt be less/one off's. Are you quite interested? Didn't you rip the one off ya old car or was it damaged in the accident?

Rob

i bot an OEM S3 one from ebay yesterday
cost 130 all in
would have preferred an extra 50quid in my beerfund but nevermind hahah

cant wait to have it fitted now !!!

any tips on fitting it gents ??

Nice on Rob...Got mine yesterday in perfect condition. Thanks for organising this..really appreciate it!

Rich

They wouldnt let me have the old one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

i have no idea what i want to do, not sure how long am keeping this car for, mite change to 1.8t in the summer once am 21

so a little confused am the moment,

[ QUOTE ]

Might aswell hold out for the 1.8T, then let the modding commence, anything you do to your current car will be lost when you come to sell it anyways, so I'd wait. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with jojo....but if you're wanting to start stocking up on bits it MIGHT be worth ya while (if ya DEFO staying A3) or you could always buy stuff and sell it if ya don't choose to go down that route I suppose...

go for the 1.8T it's good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Rob

Really want 1.8T, but then i do like the TT, my mum wants me to get TT, but insurance will be way to high on it

and petrol prices are really /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif me off at the mo

will wait a couple of months and see what happens /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

if you mum is gonna help you get the TT 225 and insure it go for it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

i got myself an e30 325i when i was 20 by making the old dear happy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif i wasnt too unhappy either lol

i have to pay for everything tho, lol

TT prices dont seem to bad,

how much was the insurance, on the bmw ? was it under your name or mum ?

I am having my spoiler delivered on sat morning
anyone know anywhere to get it sprayed at a decent price in SE London/NW kent area ???

when it comes to paint i always think you get wot you pay for so pay a bit extra to get it done right. luckily for me my mate is goin spray mine and he is the bodyworker at my work so all i got to do is pay for the paint.

[ QUOTE ]
Looks good Rob, nice colour too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yes.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks mate, the colour has came out really well on some of the piccies I took - quite chuffed, as I often thought my car doesn't look as good as some of the other dark blues on here - such as r88pers old S. They are very similar in the flesh (his was ming, mine santorini) but his piccies always looked deeper and richer....perhaps he's just more advanced with his kodak skills lol.

Maybe my confusion lies in the difference between the "Spoiler" that's on the back of my TQ and whether or not that's what y'all mean by the boot lid /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Would / will I have to remove the "Lip" seen here?

Rear_Wiper_wide.jpg

...Or just afix the S3 spoiler over it (After sanding the paint off of course)

Thx /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Bootlid = whole thing (or trunk as you guys call it)

The lip is left well alone! I just used some fine wet&dry and rubbed it down a bit just to take the shine off.

Rich

Actually, I just call it a Hatch /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

OK then, I just wasn't sure if the Lip had to be removed or not. I thought that since the S3 Boot is different than that on the A3 (such as, the S3 one has the holes for the Spoiler) that maybe the A3 lip would get in the way of the S3 Spoiler /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif (Am I making any sense??)

Thx /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah ok. Yep makes perfect sense! The S3 hatch is identical to the A3 hatch, other than the fact that the S3 has 4 holes for locating the spoiler and the A3 doesnt. I just cut them of with an angle grinder and then put 4 big blobs of adhesive where the pillars where and then a thinnish line along the whole thing. Left it on overnight with some bricks wrapped in towels as weights and the next morning, it was stuck solid!

Rich

Cool, I take it there's been no issue with speed either? I noticed a lot of spoilers mention, "Good to 200kph" and the like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif I figured THAT was why Audi bolted the spoiler to the S3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

hiya Drill,

As Rich says, ya just need to cut the bolts from the spoiler, and attach it straight onto the bootlid (with a bit of prep and that - but the spray shop fitted mine).

It fits over pretty perfect. As for speed I don't think I've read a story of one coming off over high speeds (unless it wasn't applied peoperly maybe?) The dude at the body shop, just said take it easy on the ride home (even though it had been bonding all day until I picked it up) and leave it over night before I decide to put my foot down. I just took it easy over the whole weekend. I can't really see it being that easy to come off either with the right bond as it is a pretty small spoiler - not quite the whale tail of an escort, so surely catching in the air wouldn't be as drastic?...put it this way if it stays on Rich's motor then it ain't going nowhere! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

when did u get ur's fitted Rich? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I put it on the night before we left for GTi International. So over a month now (5th May). It aint going anywhere and its had plenty of high speed (200kmh+)air passing over it

got mine fitted last week, here's a couple piccies - granted, not massive, but I do notice the difference. Very pleased I didn't pay stealer prices - sack that!

Looks very nice Rob /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif (i've still not had mine fitted yet!).
Do you mind if I ask how much you paid? (just so I can get an idea of what I should be paying)

mine is bolted in so I guess it wouldnt matter what speed LOL. Recomdos, is your aerial standard as mine catches the spoiler when I open the boot. I keep meaning to buy an S3 base to make it more vertical.

Mine hits the aerial, but only slightly
