Never seen one that bad before ! Good you took it off as they have a habbit of working loose and damaging the box on exit ! I have just taken off the engine in my b5 avant v6 tdi and the DMF has absolutely no play and the clutch still looks like brand new ! Either VAG don't spec them properly for the power and torque the engine develops or you drive the car very hard hence they failing like that ! In your case i would look for a single mass conversion- there are a few good kits available from Southbend, 034 Motorsport or even Sachs SRE. Whatever you do just avoid the lighter flywheel conversions as it will rattle your fillings out !
