After months of research,humming n harrin I've now finally made my mind up !!!
At gti inters this year met a great dude called pat (tent neighbour) and was very impressed with his car. He also had a black S3 and had just got it back from an epic engine build (big turbo,rods pistons,stroker kit etc etc), it was the neatness and attention to detail that really made it something special(check out his front bumper/intercooler TIDY) was built by andy bower at Lincoln VW specialist . it was inspirational and it made me want to take the plunge and go big turbo!!
As many of you know Im running a progressive nos kit, and was very happy with the outcome as I jumped from 280 bhp to around 330/340 bhp
I was now thinking how great it would be if I had nos and a big turbo !!!!!
Then out of the blue I gotta call from the guy who fitted my nos asking if I wanted to buy a load of S3 parts for cheap, so I went and had a nose at what he had. It turned out he had a S3 8p engine,gearbox,suspension,rear diff,prop shaft,doors,boot lid the list goes on and on after some haggling I stole the lot for a grand as the didn't really know what they had and didn't really care as they're into yank V8s ( result ).
So the idea was to bolt this into my 8l, but after some research I had heard that unless you use an Audi ecu it would be problematic and the fact I didn't have an engine loom put me off that idea. So I started to sell some of these parts to fund a rebuild on my engine?
After selling the turbo, injectors,doors,boot lid I had broke even
But had a long way to go still as I wanted to go to the lengths that pat had.
So it was just a case of doing some fairly easy research and finding someone to do my build, then just the other week I found out that a company called Qpeng now make a plug n play loom and ecu for a 2.0 tfsi 8L conversion (happy days)
So it was back to the drawing board ato find out exactly what I need
-Qpeng loom ecu
-rods n pistons
Blah blah blah
Now I know of an 8P S3 running a gt30 with 450 bhp at 0.7 bar imagine that with a 50 or 75 bhp shot of nos too
I was going to get my mate to build this for me as I was let down by a guy who was too busy to take this on but it turns out he was far too busy to take this on.
After thinking bout who else I could get to do this I got hold of pat who put me onto Andy bower at lincoln volkswagen specialist.
After a totally upbeat an confident conversation with and I was sold on the idea of these guys building my car for me!
I'm aiming to get the car to him for around the end of feb.
In the mean time im gonna usemy dad in the states to order all the parts and post them as presents
