braking noise

I've started noticing a grinding noise when applying the brake pedal after starting the car. It pretty much disapears after two/three presses of the brake. The brakes and pads look ok to me.

Any thoughts?

Most likely to be a small amount of rust build up from overnight parking. Obviously happens more in the winter.

Check the thickness of the brake pads, but this shouldn't be anything to worry about.
