Changing S3 instruments panel

OK chaps, has anyone had this done to their S3 due to the DIS starting to go AWOL? If I obtain a used instruments panel, how much does Audi charge to fit and code it usually? Also, my current instruments panel has an analogue clock, but I presume upgrading to a digital version wouldn't be any problems - correct?

    TIA

The way to tell for sure is to check the back and see the shape of the connectors at the back - the later facelift clusters have 3 identical 32 pin connectors (for the connectors that are blue, green & red for the OBC/DIS) the earlier ones, the red connector is smaller IIRC 10 pin.

the facelift did include changing the logo below the speedo... hope that helps clear things up, also the digital clock must have been introduced quite early as mine is a 2000 and I have digital.

Do you wanna sell your spare facelifted S3 clocks? I have an '03 S3, will they simply plug in and play or will i need to go to the dealer? Can i get around going to the dealer if i get VAGCOM?

No I didn't buy it in the end, and it needs to be coded at Audi due to the immobiliser and recalibration.

My S3 is a pre-facelift (Nov 99) and I have a digital clock on my dash.

    Just to clear things up.

Interesting, I must be one of like two members on this forum with an analogue clock in my S3, and I don't have ESP neither

You don't want ESP either! I have to keep turning it off.

I've got a spare facelift cluster that I might consider selling. I think I paid about 75 but you can have it for 50 + delivery, PM me if you're interested. It has to be reprogrammed for your car (immobiliser) but you can do it yourself - I posted on here or on Tyresmoke and got a link to a web page that had instructions for doing it.
