Just been trying to figure out how to get the seats out of my S3, I am giving them a good clean as it would appear alcantara isn't as delicate as I first thought, I've found the below from an old post, but in the Audi manual it says to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the seat - is this necessary?
Also it looks like I don't need to do as much as below, can you just remove the hex bolts into the rails and lift the seat off as I don't need to remove the rails etc?

Yeah, take 'em out yourself!
Pull the trip off under the front of the seat...make sure it's warm when you do it or you'll break the plastic! Pull back squarely with your fingers underneath it.
Pull the trims off at the rear of the seat runners, both sides. You'll see how they come out.
Slide the seat back all the way using the adjuster mechanism...
Undo and remove the two nuts under the seat that are now easily accessible...
Remove the very heavy and awkward seat by sliding backwards.
You can do it on your own (I did) but it's awkward and heavy...less chance of scratching trim if two of you do it.
Once the seat is free of the runners, tip it back onto the rear seat, and remove the electrical plugs from underneath. One of them is the Side Airbag connector - MAKE SURE YOUR IGNITION IS OFF!!! before you unplug anything.
A tip here:
See how much room you have to get the seat out...make sure you adjust the backrest angle to make the job easier...but do this before you remove the electrical connector for the backrest adjuster, as you'll not be able to adjust it with the power pulled (obvious really!)
Do what you have to do...re-fitting is the reverse. Easy.
With the seats back in and the electrical plugs back in place, switch your ignition on. As long as you have the plugs clicked correctly in place, you'll get no warning lights up or fault codes stored.
You'll save yourself 2 hours labour (2 hours...really! What a joke...more likw 15 mins per seat, taking your time) and if you break any of the trims you can order them up and pay for them with the money you have saved...and still be quids in!
