Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

Did the MAF, plugs, front bumper and stuff this morning.

I'm royally ****ed off though. Last night I sanded down and painted the bumper, it looked ****ing epic and I was really looking forward to getting it back on. Polished it up this morning and it looked really really good.

Was walking to the car with it this morning with the bumper and out of nowhere the most aggressive gust of wind came and it flew out of my hand and went twenty feet down the road and now it's ****ed again :(

Proper freak weather, there isnt' a cloud in the sky and there has been no wind all morning. Out of nowhere this mental gust of wind came, it actually made me stagger it was that strong.

Mother ****ers :(

Car's driving well though now, although the front dogbone bush has gone a bit slack.

May have a spare dogbone bush if you need one quickly dude. Let me now and can get it to you this eve :)

Thanks bro but it is just a case of tightening it up and putting one more washer in. The bush itself is fine :)

Just gave it a glaze with Black-Hole as best I could in this immense sun, I might pay our bodyshop to wet sand the entire car and re lacquer it. It really is a state in bright light...

Ah sweet, that's handy! The one I have is actually lined up for the Golf, though after pulling mine out and it being fairly decent I'm tempted to just pop my old one in to firm it up a tad without going quite so firm.

Do your bodyshop do external work too or purely internal? Golf is gonna need some love in the future and be handy to get a few quotes at some point :p

Be good to get the paint on the Audi sorted properly so it does the car a little more justice

We do external work, but it is very expensive and top quality. Main dealer standards and all, probably not the right sort of thing for the Golf.

I'll come have a look at the Golf soon and assess its needs.

The front dogbone bush is just as good an upgrade as the rear, but it will make your dash vibrate for a while. Swings and roundabouts, I know you aren't exactly looking to go mad with mods but I can see the bug has bitten haha!

Oh, the Leon will be having it done for sure at a later date. Not the Golf though, that's staying completely standard. Ish.

Right, have made some improvements to the front bumper since this morning. It's still a bit nasty but it's a lot more presentable now.

On the drivers side at least...Haha!

The front bumper looks alright from the back haha

Went to a local meet today, which is basically for classic/retro/old school cars. Mine stood out like a sore thumb in a sea of classic fords and modified Golfs.

Got some nice comments about how subtle it was and a couple of people were interested in it which was nice. It was by far the fastest/most poweful car at the meet so it always gets a bit of interest when I go, and after chatting to one or two people word spread and a few people crowded round expecting some amazing burnout as I left.

I got immense satisfaction just rolling past slowly and not being a chav, then popping off the launch control for a second whilst all the kids in their E30 316's and Escorts did burnouts as they left. It's nice to see something a little different, anyone can do a burnout haha :p

Harrier FTW

Properly nice car that one, that's the sort of thing that turns up there. There's always an RX7 which I would quite frankly kill for, and a load of old Vauxhalls and Volvos and things.

This is my friend Chris's redtop Nova, with retarded race cams.

This is my friends Datsun 120B Coupe, it's the only known car in the country. There are only 7 of these known in Japan which makes it one of the rarest cars in the world. Being a derivative of a standard Datsun 120 registration details are sketchy though so proper checks can't be done, which is a shame!

Affectionately known by everyone in our circle of friends she's called Datty and has some great period features, rarest of all a close ratio dog leg box. I love it :)

This turned up last night which was quite cool -

V6 twin turbo Mk1 Capri :)

Robin came in his 1.8t Scirocco as well. There were loads of cars there, but most of them I've seen before so didn't bother to take pictures.

It's a good meet, anybody in the South West should go :) Newton Abbott, first Friday of every month about 8PM in the Halfords/Matalan car-park next to the Beefeater. Then about 11 we convoy to McDonalds for some grub :)

Usually there's about 50/60 cars through the course of the night.

A great day with Mr Mil.

I dropped my rear beam and lowered the bum a bit.

We fitted this.

The toe was ever so slightly out...

And as Phil had left his 24mm spanner I had to drive it home with the wheels pointing at 10 and 2. Scary as fock.

Stopped in at Kwik Fit for the most expensive twenty minutes of my life, especially as I did half the work...

So now I have a quick rack, and Phil has a rack for his Golf that doesn't leak. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

:)

nice work phil

As much as id love to take the praise for this (i love people praising me :) ) i really cant, Jardo came over for us to do it as my road is quite, we got it jacked up and my phone rang, i spent almost all of the morning on the phone booking work in, ive started my own mobile mechanic company, and the phone didnt stop (which is great)

All i done was help lower the subframe and help bolt it back up, Jardo done everything else, i feel bad that i was gassing while he was working :(

Anyway, fair play Jardo you have done a spot on job, even tho i am a little P155 that my boy says your cars better than Ron

I haven't posted a video for ages.

Couldn't really nail it in first due to my weak box, but you get the idea.

Still goes off the clocks in 5th too. Got to love her, she just laps it up. :)

A3's FTW!

Thanks bro :)

Are you about tonight to take me for a spin in the beast? Anything I can do to help with the brakes? :)

i need more money.... mine may be a tank of a TQS but there is so much power i can get out of it considering mine is still not that far off standard.... one of these days things will stop breaking so i can actually mod it.

Wonky exhausts. Represent.

Thats my biggest pet hate. When I see cars at the lights in front of me, I get this feeling to get out and kick it straight

Yup, looks ****. Thankfully it is better than the front bumper, and it is all most people see.

:p

Just read about your front bumper accident LOL! I bet you didn't find it funny but I literally couldn't stop laughing mate........ How ironic????? :)

i mainly laugh because I did it once with a refurbed rim, dropped it face down on to what can only be described as the most stones piece of flat concrete in the world!

Sean

A good day indeed :)

Went to Phils new workshop, now that he is a self employed VAG specialist he has got a proper unit to work out of :)

I started by ripping my front bumper off, flatting it down and getting it ready for paint.

Then I cleaned Ron :)

Then Russ turned up (slowcoach) and Phil beaded his intercooler pipes after an unfortunate blowing off incident (oooo errr)

Phil was doing a full service on a Passat whilst Russ put his custom intercooler back together. I offered my usual help and advise...(read, ripped his car to pieces and smoked 20 fags in two hours)

I cleaned up the Passat for the customer and then Phil dropped it back, so I had a bit of time and space to have a play with my car.

I'm not going to lie, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven!

And with it's name badge :)

The paint on the front bumper reacted to the lacquer and I had to wet sand it back and it was all a waste of time.

HOWEVER I did polish the car to death, seal it, wax it and glaze it.

Phil and I lined our gaymobiles up and took some pictures of his empire.

Wonky exhaust :D

You can see the crazing in the front bumper here :(

Then I drove home and the car went really well.

That is a very nice looking car klappe, I would love to get mine to be as nice looking as that, how easy was it to fit the s3 seats? I have an agu but there seats aren't electric in mine, would I need to run a live feed and neg feed to them?

Thanks.

Seats drop straight in, no need to change anything.

I just set the seats up out of the car, the backward and forward of the seat base is manual and I haven't had to adjust the seat back ever.

The electrics aren't wired up, nor are the heated elements but to be fair they aren't needed. The airbag plugs are the same though. I feel obliged to warn you that the S3 seats are total ****, a bar stool has more lateral support. And they weigh a ton. Half leather facelift A3 seats are a much nicer choice.

AGU's are alright, have a look at the first page and see the spec of my last one. At the time it was by far the strongest K03s AGU around, if you can replicate that spec you'll have a beautiful car.

Anything you need drop me a PM.

Cheers for the heads up about the seats, I do like the s3 seats lol, but I really need to get my handling sorted out lol, but yes I will read your thread and prawns thread, some very good info to be had, but my car is just being a pain in **** at the moment lol.

are you planing on doing much more to yours

Make it go faster, make it stop better, sort the bodywork out, sell it and buy an Integra.

Basically haha.

Glad you painted that cooler and pipes, look sleeper as **** now, not as sleeper as ron with his beige seats though!

looks awesome boys

You and that ****** bumper!

How many times have I told you to paint it properly?stop bodging it, you're painting it every 2 weeks!

the reason that's reacted is because you're doing the next coat too soon. Solvents are still escaping from the layer beneath when you trap them in with another coat on top.

HaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaHAAAAAAAAAAAAA

you just got SO angry with me on the phone.

It was hilarious

glad you fixed it.

I was rather angry with you. It was 8:14, my car had no brakes, it was raining, I was wearing a suit, you were being annoying.

Waiting for TPS to open, bah.

In case you guys haven't guessed, my servo pipe had split and come off. I was flapping and phoned Prawn, he lol'd at me being simple. I lol'd when I had a second to stop flapping and think about it.

:)

I just read this whole thread and it has taken me nearly 4 days!

Your car really pulls strong man, I can't actually believe it! It was quite entertaining at times, lol

Great progress on the car and she really does look stunning in black:applaus:

Wahoo somebody read my thread :D Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed the read. My entire life is a daily drama, and most of it is reflected in this thread in one way or another haha.

I like the chrome Sam, I like the way it ages the car. I actually put it back on in place of a satin blacked one.

When I fitted the front mount I bought a pre facelift bumper to age the car a little more. I wanted it to look like Prawns car when it was a daily and I used to drive it everywhere.
