rear brake bulb light?

as above on my 1998 a3 1.8t it use to come on every now and again but now every time i touch the brake pedal just about its beeping and coming on its getting really annoying. Both the bulbs havnt gone and then it wont do it again for few days it will go off but yesterday and today its been the worst its been really annoying.. Anyone got any ideas?

mine did that i changed the bulbs anyway n it stopped

Possibly 3rd brake light?? Shouldn't really go off if a few bulbs are gone. Maybe connection problem? Have your tried cleaning the bulb holder where the bulbs touch the housing. Had a similar problem on my old escort.

One of my reversing lights would work unless you tapped it, then it stopped, tap it again and it came back on! The filament was actually broken but would sometimes connect back together then break again. So probably just a dodgy bulb.
