Squeeky noisey glove box

Since I have had my A3 the glovebox has always been noisey and squeeky when opening and closing it. It also drops down quickly. Noticed that my friends mk4 golf one is quiet and opens slowly.

It then occured to me that surely there is something wrong with mine. Am I right?

Get a can of silicone grease from halfords and spray on the joints etc. Also works great for leathers and squeaky S3 recaro

But on a side note. Are the meant to drop down quickly? Or slowly like the mk4 golf?
