Plastic piece under accelerator

Is there any advantage to removing or cutting back the piece of plastic under the accelerator pedal.

Do you have 'drive-by-wire' or 'drive-by-cable' - whereas wire is electronic throttle.

I have been informed that on a 'drive-by-wire' this makes no difference because of where the pedal stops (checked it myself and this appears true) but I think i took mine out anyway.

8l's are drive by wire so shouldn't make any difference.

Only 1999 onward 8L's are drive by wire, earlier ones are cable throttle.
