Noisy Turbo?

I have a 2001 Y 1.8t sport and it has only done 4800 miles and I am wondering if i should be able to hear the turbo whistle and the dump valve when i accelerate and change gear.
Let me know what u think if this is normal or not?

that is normal on a turbo engine, i would be worried if you couldnt hear it..

if its a constant whistle then thats cool. it if varies alot then you have trouble!

If you hear a "chakka-chak" type release of air between changes then sounds like the DV needs replacing. You should be able to hear the turbo whistle (with windows open) when accelerating but it should be fairly subtle.
