hi guys im new to the forum,

and just wanted to know a few things really.

Currently i own a civic type r EK9 and going to be selling for a 2002 s3,

i really just wanted to know whats the first thing in tuning wise to do/are the best, and what things not to do.

and what are the big companys for audi tuning like for hondas theres spoon, mugen, j's racing etc

thanks

first things really are decat, air filter, re-map, the usual. depends how much money you have to play with and what you're trying to achieve... ie speed or looks or both lol.

Only been on here a short while but most people go for a stage 1 map first.

Hi and welcome.
What tuning depends on what you want from a car. Power wise, a remap is the biggest bang for buck, followed by a badger 5 TIP (turbo inlet pipe).

There are lots of companies that specialise in these engines,ad its so widely used across the vag range. To name a few...AMD, APR, badger 5, r-tech, revo, backdraft.

There is LOTS of threads for all the info you want, so search using keywords, and check out the sticky threads at the top of the page.

Enjoy

where would you say the best places for a decat are etc and manifolds which is the most popular etc

mainly looking for looks and speed.

is there some companys to stay away from ?

Hi Shane, any reason for selling the EK9 for an S3?

For out and out speed, then an S3 is an upgrade from your EK9, but if you want your car to o round corners, the S3 won't come close to an EK9, even if you throw a couple of grand on coilovers and ARBs etc.

An EK9 is quite a hardcore roadcar to be honest, best suited on the track! :racer:

Says the 2 S3's owner...must be a terrible car :p

thanks for the reply,

with the ek9 im getting a bit sick of really loud car, having to thrash the ek9 to get its potential being freezing etc haha

ive always liked the s3's im not really fussed about the corner speeds ive been and done tracks with the ek9, knowing doubt the s3 will be going on track once or twice. But my main idea I want out of the s3 is comfort looks and torque :D

The S3 is as said in a review 'a grown up Golf GTI' the review was when the 8L was in the showroom so it's not talking about the later Golfs.

Try and save yourself money by buying an S3 thats already been modified, if I was to buy another S3 things I would look for are uprated shocks and springs (Billys and HR or eibach springs) uprated ARB's (Eibachs, neuspeed, HR, R32) Brembo brakes, remap by a known tuner and proof of remap being setup properly, a few people on here have got S3 and then found the remap hasnt been setup correctly and is not making much more power and over fueling, causing damage. down pipe, decat, FMIC all bonus items too. Dont be put of by mods as long as theres evidence the cars been looked after and setup correctly, avoid modified cars with short ownership, the S3 is cheap to buy now buts its still a 20k+ car to run (if that makes sense) and theres probably a few examples out there that have not been maintained properly.

That's cool, the S3 definitely fits the bill of comfort, looks and torque. EK9's are awesome cars, but like you say, they need an open road for you to wind it up to get it's potential! :racer:

I have NEVER said an S3 is a terrible car Jase, but when one has had experience of both cars, I thought I'd put my thoughts forward. EK9 Civics are basically road legal trackcars, and in the right hands, I would presume it would leave an S3 along a windy road... in the dry at least.

Come to think of it I know a few civics/tegs near there, one of which belongs to a chap called nuno, old old shape turbo'ed gold looking thing.

Haha nubo ^ He`s one of my mates although havent spoken to him for ages. Still dont know if he ever finished it. it was kind of on the road and then came back off again and then he was changing turbo kits as current one wasnt up to the job and thats the last i heard of him.

Yeah that's as far as i think it got, I think he's on to a gt35 type thing now. Good lad, bit mental but then arent we all.

my ek9 is championship white carbon bonnet and spoon regamasters sw388 wheels :)

+1

If I was to buy another S3 then I would look on the forums to buy a slightly modded one- I have seen quiet a few decent examples for sale recently at very reasonable prices. If you were to buy one from of here for example- alot of people have created threads on what they've done and any problems they may have come across on there vehicle- so would be a good base to start.

the exhaust is quite loud but its tiny.

you wouldnt see me speeding down roads really it wont let me upload pictures.
