Hi, ive just had my 1.8t a3 1999 re-mapped, forge 007 d/v and k&n induction kit just gone for a test drive and my god its fast!!!! BUT the brakes got abit to hot and went spongy, thought i wasnt going to stop! Whats a good cheap route to go down with new brakes???
Thanks Dave

New fluid - motul rbf400 and bleed the system, you may have to bleed the master cylinder aswell.
New pads - ferodo ds2500
Maybe new discs,

Not massively expensive.

Other than that s3 brakes or Leon cupra r brembos will help

i got some discs and pads off mtec brakes and fair enough they were well cheap only about 160 for all round dimpled and grooved discs and mintex pads but i looked for bad reviews and i couldn't find any anywhere i also found a bloke how used the brakes on his 480 BHP saab so i guessed they where pretty good and man do i stop when i press the pedal, even if they don't last long or what ever 160 quid for all round discs and pads is awesome, my girlfriend pays more than that for her front discs and pads on her LCR.

312mm brakes is a cheap upgrade.

Mtec 312mm disc with mintex pads £100 from ebay
312mm carriers £60 (ish) from ebay

use the standard calipers. put in fresh fluid.

thats what i got on mine, they aint let me down at all yet :)
