audi s3 1999 secondary air pump has stoped working

Hi, I went on holiday for a week and my secondary air pump now doesnt come on. The car revs up when engine is cold and tries to turn on the secondary air pump but it wont go. the dash lights continue to go dim until the engine is slightly warmer. If i disconect the air pump will this cause a problem?? or has anyone managed to cure this without fitting a new pump (new one about £400)

Have a look in the stickys mate, just buy a blanking plate and remove it, you dont need it.

I agree with Dani, get rid of it. its really not needed. mine was so bad that when i removed it it was full of horrid brown water and made an awful rattle on start up :-/ You can get the blanking plate from forge, easy job to do.
