Hey guys, looking to get my car all wrapped in matt n carbon style...
Not sure whether matt black or matt white... if anyone has done this could you post pics please?

:salute: Cheers

i posted this a few days back. use the search mate.

i did matt black. there is one for sale on classified adds in black at minute :)

I got quoted £300 for materials and £400 for labour

Nice one Ja3mie i'll have a look, im thinking white, but herd it can b a pain to maintain?
:readit:

do you have a playstation 3? eat KFC, pick up the controller! thats what its like on the car. lol

no polishing either

Hopefully i shall be getting all the materials this week
Decided im going for the Carbon fibre wrap on the bonnet, roof, spoiler and trims. The rest of the car matt white.
Its going to take a while as my brother has agreed to do the labour for free (cant complain)
He normally does body work, but has seen how this wrap is applied, said it was fairly easy. Anything i should look out for?

Should be interesting to see the results! Good luck with it pal ;)

id like to see a whole car wrapped in carbon fibre. hmm first carbon a3 anyone? lol dunno if id be brave enough

Hi jay, do you know what make of vinyl you'v been quoted on, you'd expect to pay from around £1100 on an a3 and prices will go up dependent on vinyl finish. here's a few pointers so you dont get stung.

It must be a premium cast vinyl, not a calendered vinyl.
if your bro has never installed it before ensure you get a vinyl with airflow, also know as bubble free.
make sure you order enough as colours can change slightly from batch to batch when casted in the plant
when your bro installs it ensure you source the tech spec of the vinyl used For pre/post heating instuctions and follow it to the letter or it will end up on the floor in months to come. 1 Degree under on post heating and it will fail!!
If you can, sorce either 3M, Avery as a first choice. there are many people out there selling on the fact they supply/ install 3M or Avery, if it aint on the backing paper it aint what your paying for. A lot are now using a product made my KPMF however the vinyl has a poor airflow capability and dose not have a guide to post heating that's why most won't use it. but there are people i could name selling it as a better product a ripping customers off as its a third of the price of 3M and the like.
Also get a proper vinyl craft knife and plenty of blades, you will probably use around10 blades to cut an A3 in ( two cuts...bin it). dont use any other kinda knife ie stanley or it'll look like you'v cut it in with your teeth..

As for KFC fingers, that wont happen as you have an over laminate on the vinyl, be it matte/ satin or gloss, this only applies to matte/satin paintwork. Most top end vinyl's are fuel repellent, cheap vinyl's are not and will look like a dogs ****** up your car once its bedded in....... Beware !!

Any prob's dude give me a shout.... always here to help

Did a TT with full RSTT conversion in matte white 3m-dinoc with a matte white bonnet...... looked good at day one but when dirt starts to gather in the carbon weave it just looks....... well, not too good tbh
We do a bespoke carbon print also which is quite cool but pricey

hey damo.h thank you very much for that info, very useful! i will find out what type of vinyl they use. the garage a few doors down from my brothers garage specialise in wrapping too, they offered me £22 per metre for the matt white and £15 per metre for the black carbon. Not sure if its the 3M tho. THey have just wrapped a a civic, which im going to see in the next few days, see how the matt white holds up... Thanks again for the information, i will defo be in touch if i have any questions. The wrap will take a little while as i only see my brother once a week. But i will upload pics as i go along! wish me luck :icon_thumright:

No worries dude. I know it's normally down to cost and don't mean to sound like an **** but it's like anything, you get what you pay for. Are you friends with the guy your getting it off? If so is he giving it at cost? £15 seems a little low tbh even at cost. I'd look into the carbon a bit more as it'll be around 250 microns thick so harder to comply and if you going to get a fail it'll be on that.
Good on ya for doing it your self man! get Yr pics up soon as you done i'v been wanting to see an 8l in matte White. Nice change from the high gloss look. :

Oh get yourself a couple of these.
