xenon bulb problems (early S3)

Hi guys, i have a problem with my headlight bulbs, i bought a pair of 5000k bulbs from ebay ( this is probably the problem lol ) and when i turn the lights on the bulbs flick on then straight back of again, sometimes only one sometimes both,

if i repeatedly switch them on/off/on they do stay on and work fine, then after a spell of use if i turn them of then back on they work fine??

is this possably a starter issue or ballast or just shoite bulbs?

the car is a pre-facelift S3 with OEM hid lights.

Bulbs mate, common problem with aftermarket bulbs.

Best thing todo is turn the lights on, leave them in the on poisition even if they dont come on, leave for a minute, turn them off then on, normaly works fine.

Ive got 6k bulbs in mine and in the winter the drivers side always plays up.

Cool I'll try that, I thought it would have been the bulbs as I've never had problems prior to changing them, I **** myself when I priced new ballasts lol
