Random stalling when selecting reverse?!

Hey everyone, dunno whether anyone can help me. I have a 1998 A3 TDI Sport and the issue I'm having is that sometimes when I have my foot on the clutch and put it into reverse it stalls straight away? Anyone had this before?

does it feel like the clutch hasn't fully disengaged when you select reverse? I get that sometimes, push the clutch to the floor and select reverse and it crunches ever so slightly and the car jolts. For me it feels like the clutch is still biting ever so slightly despite the clutch pedal being pushed to the floor. But I only get this in reverse

Sounds similar but I don't feel any jolt or crunch, i'll pay more attention next time :S did you ever find out what that was??

no, mine is no where near as bad as yours, just an annoyance but i thrown enough money at it recently
