having problems with my Audi A3 1.6

hi i am new on this site and need some help bad.

today my audi a3 1.6 sport 16v 2004 decided to play up big time on me. the exhaust is pumping out black smoke. i got the car today scan and the man said the the fan is not working which caused my car to over heat today.

but did not explian why the back smoke. i spoke to my dad who was a ex mechanic and is adamant that either my engine is gone or the pistons are gone. and said to me that i need to get reconditioned engine or engine rebuild. but has call a guy for second opinion which is coming tomorrow. could you please give me advice if these simptums are correct and if so. how much would it cost.

You stated your car's a 2004 model mate, therefore it'd be an 8P chassis and you'd likely get many more replies in the 8P section (you've posted in the 8L chassis of the forum).
