Question Clutch cylinder.. But which one?

    Hi guys...

Yesterday my S3 clutch pedal started to behave funny.. When I start the car the pedal seems light to push with the bitting point about a 1cm from fully down... Also the pedal got stuck half way coming back up... Then after pumping slightly it came back to normal and the butting point is back half way (like normal)... Then today I had a similar issue after driving for a little while...

What could this be, master or slave cylinder?
If it the master whats the parts and labour expense?
If it's the slave, what is the part and labour? Also might aswel change the clutch same time as the slave!

    Can anyone help....

Hi guys.. Quick update... The pedal likes to stick Hal way when I release it... But sorts it self out after pumping it again and again or by pulling it up... Does this sound like the master cylinder?

    Thanks guys

I hope for your sake that it's the master cylinder! I've had two slave cylinders go on two cars this year, and both times it's leaked fluid onto the clutch and caused it to slip! Nightmare. Have had to remove the gearbox and change a whole clutch for the sake of a £40 slave that takes 10 mins to fit!

Just looked under the car noticed some yellow fluid between the engine and gearbox... It is the slave cylinder... Hopefully my RAC maintenance and breakdown warranty will pay for the slave cylinder (as it states in the t&c)...

I will just pay for the clutch separate.... Anyone uses RAC warranty before?

the irratating thing is, the slave itself is around £30, Its the labour that kills it

Finally got the car back from the dealers. Flywheel, Slave Cylinder and clutch changed... It was the slave cylinder leaking....

Got other issue now... Have posted it in a new post... Got vibrations after 200rpm under load...
