Oh yes. That is a pain in the ****. I used a big flat head screwdriver and a huge crowbar to prize mine open. I wouldn't recommend doing it though.

Does this socket need to be a certain size?

I did the top mount with a socket in mole grips along with an allen key

No worries, I just wish I knew about this tool when I did my suspension.

are these rearly needed as im not fitting my coilovers getting some one fit them would they need these tools or could they still do the coilovers without them never heard of them till now lol

You certainly get by without them with a little thought....

There's ways round it mate like I suggested above but I bet this socket makes life sooooo much easier.

It is possable to do it without/other using other tools. I've done a few cars with out using the correct tool, just make the job a lot easier to do.
