    Summit order arrived:

Still waiting on the IE order so that the engine can be assembled (and I can go get pics). The russell push fit hose is going to be so much easier than faffing around with braided. I've got for AN8 from pump to rail and AN6 for everything else. I'm hoping to mount it where the washer tank is and either get a smaller one (base Mk4 Golf Tuffty has mentioned) or relocate it. The SPA design fuel pressure sensor fits perfectly into the new Aeromotive compact regulator which is a relief. Should be a nice setup.

Also got the 90 degree heater core hoses which have the take offs for the coolant lines for the wastegate. I might get some regular 90s just in case. They were dirt cheap and look to be OEM quality rather than made of soft cheese. Going to get some fire sleeve for the heater core hoses since they'll be close to hot stuff.

Parts "room" is looking a bit full...

Haha it's a spare room that inevitably gets filled with junk, cleared, then filled again. Unless of course someone is living in it. Currently it's the parts room

Unfortunately I only have 3 of those rims, need to buy a 4th and get the tyres mounted.

You're bang on Karl. 4pot rear Hope too and big un hubs. I brought it over from the UK 5 years back. They don't really get Hope here, or didn't when I first arrived so some bike shops were a bit surprised. I hardly ride it these days It used to have an "original" big un front hub on a d321, which was a super strong wheel. I should dust it off and take it out but I just feel a bit old for it now. Want to get a nice road bike, or hipster fixie.

I'm pretty sure I got those forks about 16 or 17 years ago now. Crazy.

Yeah there's a fair bit building up now. Keen to crack on but with Christmas looming and trip to the UK on the cards it's not looking like any time soon it'll be done. We'll see. I'm leaning towards to the Clutchmasters FX850SS, it's a single disk full face disc with their normal 850 pressure plate. It looks like a really nice setup.

I'm getting a bit pissed off with TSR Performance. They've still not sent the sodding EGT probe boss. It'll be 5 weeks tomorrow - sterling service. I know they're going to kick up a fuss when I send them the bill for the work to weld it in too. Or take ages, going by this experience.

Nice tip/filter setup sam. I was looking at filters last night, but gonna have to wait till the engine is in the bay to judge the size i can have. Dont wana go too big too soon.

Got my line kit through from TSR finally. However, it looks like they've sent an incorrect hose. I have what's definitely an oil drain, plus:

    - 12mm banjo to JIC connection (oil feed)
    - 14mm banjo to 14mm banjo (coolant feed)

    and then a rogue line:
    - 12mm banjo to 12mm clamp-on (presumably coolant drain, but it's got the wrong size banjo)

They tell me that they should be different size hoses (coolant drain vs feed), is that right? So if I get a 14mm banjo fitted to the line will it flow enough?

Also got the Genesis fuel pump loom which looks top quality. Also the IE flywheel friction disc which looks like, err, a disc.

Yeah, it's not panned out as expected...

Well AN6 is on 9.25mm (3/8) ID but this hose they've sent is the same size hose as the oil feed.

I'm half tempted to just send the line kit back and ask for a refund. It's a joke. 225 quid the kit was, I was expecting AN fittings etc but they didn't even send the banjo bolts!

Some pics. So the Genesis loom and IE disc:

And the lines. Bear in mind I will be covering them all with fire sleeve. First, the oil drain:

Oil feed (oil filter housing to turbo):

    Coolant feed (block to turbo):

And the dubious coolant drain, using the same size hose as the oil feed:

The ends (block to turbo right, drain left):

(Block to turbo left, drain right)

Still not much movement on the engine front. I'm just waiting to save up some cash for the flyhweel and clutch but I'm flying back to the UK at Christmas so that'll wipe out a fair bit.

I've really just been enjoying the car (read, give it stick - once the oils warm of course!) and it's been pretty faultless. The suspension knock I had before seems to be back but I've just ignored it for now. I have a feeling it's the top spring pan hitting the underside of the turret. I might look into getting some sort of spacer made up.

Anyhow, today I buggered off early from work and sorted a few little niggles:
    - Emptied the catch can which was hardly worth it, there was sod all in it, got more on my hands I think than in the bottle.
    - Fitted an 8 psi spring in the Tial QR to replace the 10 psi one which seemed to be causing weird part throttle and also fluttering at low rpm/throttle openings.
    - Cleaned up the RS4 alcantara wheel. They seem to be a dirt/sweat magnet and it'd got pretty grim. Cleaned it up with a toothbrush and water/fabreeze mix. Then gave it a shave with a Remington Fuzz Away. It was looking a lot better afterwards. I'll grab a pic tomorrow once it's dried.
    - Ordered 8 BKR7E plugs since I'm due 4 new ones by now.
    - Gave it a good wash! It was looking pretty dog eared

You can see how grimey the wheel was:

    Old spring vs new:

What a ******* to get the lid back on. I had to use a longer bolt to get it "close" and then clamp it together with one hand and do it up with the other. Pretty fiddly.

Should be a nice drive tomorrow.

Cheers. It's probably no better or worse (only cost wise) than an OEM 710n in all honesty. I just thought at the time I'd get something capable of flowing a bit more air

I'd probably just go OEM if I was looking to buy again...

A couple of bits arrived for the car, namely the Hemi TB and the 4th Pro Race so I'll get the semi slicks mounted on them and decide whether to keep them or sell them on to help fund the engine stuff.

Not much progress still. I got the EGT probe welded into the downpipe and now trying to get the water drain hose sorted. For 225 quid, it's a bit of a joke that they got it wrong. TSR are being very painful to deal with, email replies are hit and miss and I shouldn't have to keep phoning up to get it sorted. They even tried to back out of it in their last email - "The hoses were right, send us a picture" (to which they didn't reply). It's like they just can't be arsed to sort it out now they have the money. Not sure I'd recommend them. Nice products, crap service.

Bought an NLS shim kit for the new build, it's supposed to help with engagement on the 02M:
VWVortex.com - NLS 02M clutch shim kit now for sale!!

I now have some DEI wrap so I might have a go at wrapping the manifold this weekend. Planning to use stainless lock wire every 2-3" or so. I've read mixed reports about wetting it before hand but I think I'll do it that way to avoid the itchy hands for days.

I've also decided that if my tyres sell then I'll get the IE street cams and their pulley. Got a guy coming to look at them tonight so fingers crossed. The cams look like they'll add a fair wedge of power.

Ordering an 850SS clutch on Monday. It might well be overkill (like every other part) to some but the last thing I want is to get everything fitted and have clutch slip or later have issues if I decide to go for a larger turbo. It'll also be good to launch The 850SS looks like a serious bit of kit. It's basically their twin disc setup but using a single disc and a sprung plate for better road manners. I've not read a bad report yet:

    Pics stolen from here:
    Clutch Masters FX850SS

Reason I went for it is Mike at Ringer Racing gave me a good price on it, and looking at alternatives such as the sachs plate and LUK cover and flywheel were only marginally less when you total everything up including shipping etc. It seemed like a no brainer.

TSR are still being useless. They seem very capable to post on Facebook but when it comes to emailing paid customers, they seem very lacking. Rob finally agreed to pay the $38 for welding the EGT probe in and has said he's sending a new hose but neither seem to have come to fruition. My advice? Avoid them. Nice products but the worst service I've experienced. Going to call them tonight for a rant. I wish I'd paid on credit card so I could issue a chargeback.

Cheers! Yeah it'll be a while yet still I think. Tuffty's build, which he thought was slow, is like lightspeed compared to mine! Doesn't help that I kept changing the spec. Should be good now though. Hopefully it's done before the end of winter/spring so I at least get some cool air temps! No doubt the first mod after the engine will be WMI. Looking forward to seeing how the diff feels too.

I posted on your thread about Tony @ Touring Car Spares, not sure if you saw? (it was mid trackday talk) Not sure if he'll have any useful parts but worth giving him a shout about BTCC tyres as he gets loads.
