    Nice one
does he know its a Quattro to. I had a hard time routing the wastegate return to exhaust as there wasn't much room with the propshaft coupler in the way.

Haha I was actually speaking to the owner of IE today on Facebook (he randomly added me, since I had some IE issues before) about that (and other stuff) hence my post on Staceys thread. He said the sump is machined from a 65lb block of ally down to that, ending up at 5lb. He reckons the kit will be $3000-4000 all said and done. I was planning on going for a Forge sump.

With regards to the girdle, it's not essential but it really depends on what the engine is revved to from what I can gather. Here's the fitting guide for the girdle using standard main caps:
Integrated Engineering 06A Crank Girdle/Bedplate Kit Installation — IE AutoBlog

As I posted on Staceys thread, the spec so far is:

    + 1mm Ferrea exhaust/inlet valves
    Ferrea spring + retainer kit
    JE 83mm pistons
    TFSI crank + oil pump
    IE rifle drilled rods
    IE inlet
    Wavetrac diff

...and I'll be ordering an IE girdle, forge baffled sump, Hemi TB, IE rail, timing belt gear + dowel pins, manual tensioner and a fluidampr.

Like I said before though, this is going to be a slow build though as I have a lot of financial commitments at the moment - PR for the mrs and myself, a wedding etc.

Another minute step but just ordered a .72 pagparts vband housing for the GTX30. Hopefully picking up the injectors one night this week.

I've been away in Thailand with the mrs and driving her mum's Nissan Micra (or "Match" as they call it there), came back this morning and went straight into work. Driving the S3 felt so much nicer, so much tighter and feels like miles more grip. It's mad how a bit of time not driving the car can make it feel so different. It desperately needs a clean though A job for this weekend.

Looking forward to getting into the build but realistically it's going to be ages. Not something I want to rush though since the current engine "works".

Got a decent price from TSR for their manifold and downpipe kit so I'll go for that with a 44mm Tial wastegate after the wedding.

Not really done much on the car of late as I've been busy working on the site for the guy helping with my engine build (well, his parts side of things). Homepage looks a bit naff (big ECS banner): Euro Revolution - Euro Revolution

I ordered a couple of bits the other night.

Massive K&N. Overkill I'm sure but that's been my theme so far, so why not carry on? It's 14" long, 6" wide at the fat end and 4.5" at the small end. 4" clamp size for the GT30 anti surge housing:

Also bought a 90 degree 4" hose for the tip but that's pretty dull. Really the next big purchase is going to be the manifold. I'm contemplating selling my mac pro to fund the manifold & downpipe, since there's a new one out soon anyway

Guess I'll need an S4 V8 MAF too?

Another kinda dull update. Got the Pag Parts .72 vband housing through today so that can be added to the pile of parts forming:

The locking tabs that Bill adds to the Tial housings (seems to be standard on the PPT ones):

I like how it's stainless so won't look manky. I'll have to see how funds are nearer the time for ceramic coating.

I do like that... did consider it myself if I decided to go v-band on whatever manifold I go to next...

Seems a nice compromise between 0.63 and 0.82 on a stroker

Yeah, everyone seems to say it's a sweet spot in the middle. Hopefully it won't be too long before I find out but realistically this is going to be a slooooow build. Similar ish spec to Staceys, but with a few less trick bits. I should really go and get some pictures of the other bits. IE inlet and Wavetrac diff have arrived. Half tempted to chuck the inlet on the current engine and see if it feels any different but not sure I can be bothered and the map would probably need a tweak I guess.

More power for same boost typically... depends on how yours is mapped really as boost may drop a bit due to extra flow...

Would these fit the fuel lines that come into the bay?

Aeroflow Quick Connect 3 8" TO 6AN Fuel Line Rail Pump Filter Adapter Black | eBay

Not sure if it's better than the IE ones?
Integrated Engineering Factory VW/Audi Quick Release Fuel Line to -6AN Male Adapter

Bought an M12 -> AN-8 for the IE surge tank. I'm planning on fitting the surge tank in the spot where the washer tank is, and fit a much smaller tank somehow. That way I use the stock filter and just modify the plumbing in the engine bay.

    Shopping list fuelling wise:
    - Genesis HD Fuel Pump Harness Genesis HD Fuel Pump Harness [PMPHARx] - $75.00 : USRT, Usually Sideways Rally Team
    - Integrated Engineering Billet Fuel Rail For 1.8T 20V (black of course, OEM-esque)
    - Possibly these (since I've not heard from the guy selling me the 850s) Siemens Deka 870cc Injector- High Impedence

those look the same as what I have bought and Stacey said he also uses them - No reports of fuel leaks from Bill yet so hoping its all good.

My diy s/s surge tank is going to sit in the same place as you are planning. Charcoal box delete so there is a lot of space. Also plan to relocate PAS reservoir to gearbox side of the engine bay.
I will run -6AN from fuel lines to surge tank, then -10AN to bosch 044 then -8AN from the 044 to the IE fuel rail. Then fuel return to surge tank is -6AN as well as fuel return to OEM fuel tank is -6an

True Dave, but black is equally as subtle. I'm gutted I only got the silver IE inlet though. It looks way better in black

Scullies: Yeah that was the setup I was planning on running but the 044 is submerged in the IE tank so it'll all be AN6 apart from 044 to rail. Ordered an 044 to AN8 adapter for a massive $8.

There seems to be two different types of OEM hose to AN6/8 adapters, one with the plastic insert (like the one I linked) and one in two metal parts that seems to screw together (like the IE one).

Cheers mate. It's been a bit boring of late but I'm just in a slow parts hoarding stage. Getting as much ready as possible to reduce downtime.

What do you have planned? Something big to need a dual plate 725 I assume? Are you in Sydney?

Track racing mainly, still not quite sure if to go with a GT30 or 35.

Yeah, its all just time and money. How much did you end up paying the Milltek cat back system, landed?

I guess if it's pure racing then the GT35 might be suitable but not sure what it'd be like on the road? I went GTX3071R purely because it was available at a good price.

I think the Milltek was ~$1000 landed and fitted by CRD. Probably wouldn't be any good with a GT35 though, it's probably too restrictive for even a GTX30.

Sam, dont buy the 3/8 fittings. They way to big and dont seal the fuel line. I think Stacey must have bought the 5/16 fitting.

The IE ones are 5/16 but heres the 5/16 push on version

Yeah I'd worked out that we needed 5/16 after reading a few vortex threads. They seem a bit pricier but I'll probably just do a big order for hoses and fittings from summit.

Clunk and creak fixing today. My rear ARB seemed to shed all the grease from its bushes and was creaking over anything remotely uneven. It was pretty embarrassing going down ramps in car parks and into my drive. I used some Inox MX8 grease (which is pretty awesome if anyone hasn't used it) rather than the included white grease which seemed to dry out. Perhaps being so close to the exhaust doesn't help. Also greased up the front top mounts. Ever since I had the front struts rebuilt, the springs would bind when parking (another embarrassing noise!) and pop every now and then. The ground control top mounts have a "cup" that the spring pan sits in and it's really picky about being greased right seemingly. Lucky I didn't have to strip it all down to do it. I love little jobs like these that make the car feel so much better to drive.

Thinking about buying one of these for the battery relocation to the boot but not sure if it'll be enough juice?
