question, when we say the ecu will adapt the injectors +/-25%, do we mean it will effectively lower the 550's at 3bar to 412.5cc?? or can do if it needs to??

I would have thought that the 25% + or - would be on the standard 380 injectors as it doesn't know about the 550s other then it's trying to bring the fuel down to what it should be from 380 injectors.

im failing to understand this adaptation of fuel trims. i keep assuming its the flow of the injectors, but they will be fixed at a certain pressure. so its not like it reduces the flow of them.
thanks tuffty but the link may aswell be in mandarin.

Part of me wants to run the 550s just to see what happens but the other part of me thinks I shouldn't bother even fitting them till i'm at the mappers.

Fuel trims apply an adjustment factor to the amount of time an injector is on for... when you log block 002 you will see injector on times... so for example the ECU tells the injector to be on for 18ms in order to provide the right amount of fuel at a given rpm for a metered amount of air... this value is calculated from various tables in the map and from input from various sensors to enable the ECU to meet the required AFR..

Fitting 550's for example and not adjusting the various tables that 'scale' the injector will result in more fuel being injected for a given pulse time... the ECU sees the AFR go rich so adapts accordingly by incrementing/decrementing LTFT's to apply as a factor in its injector pulse time calcs... The ECU will still calc the injector pulse based on 380cc injectors then apply the adaption to get the final figure...

everyone said a 4 bar FPR gives you 15% more fuel, and yours has pulled out 15%. Sounds good to me. means there's 15% more headroom before the injectors are maxed out

I keep forgetting I've got that 4 bar lol. Yes what you're saying makes sense. -15% is the ecu removing the extra fuel put in by the FPR.

I'd be keen to fit new injectors just so they are bloody quieter. They are so loud on these engines? I had some Weber ones that came with my Jenvey bodies on a previous build and they were almost silent!

That's quite interesting, I'd not thought about that before.

I've got no idea how much quieter the Bosch 550s are, never heard anyone mention it before.

Look what just dropped through the door:

just waiting on my new nozzle from AEM and I should have a fully working WMI setup that doesn't syphon!

I need to work out the best place to fit this solenoid so that it's easy to wire into the ignition feed as the wires aren't very long! I'm thinking to fit it to the WMI line behind the glove box then run the wires behind the dash to the ignition feed under the steering wheel

Under the bonnet and extend the wires... keep it close to the nozzle...

Make sure the fittings are done up right else they will leak... seen this before

It's a lot bigger and heavier then I expected! It does have 2 threaded holes on the bottom so I should be able to mount it to something to hold it in place.

Do I need to use any specific type of wire?

As those of you that follow this thread know i've been on the hunt for some fairly cheap track wheels for my Yoko semi slick tyres I have sitting in the garage. The requirements were:

    - Had to be lighter then 12kgs that the standard 17" S3/TT wheels are.
    - Need to be 17" diameter by 8" wide for my tyres to fit and the extra width will add better handling.
    - Needed to fit directly onto the wheel hubs without spacers as I find this wrecks the handling.

I've been searching for a while now with the hope of snagging some Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels or any OZ multispoke wheel that is 7-10 kgs in weight. Finding wheels like this is a nightmare. I would find the right offset but the wrong width or i'd find the correct width but the PCD would be for 4 bolts instead of 5 I did consider at one point buying some brand new Pro Race 2.1s in the exact size I wanted but I have to keep reminding myself that I've just bought a house that requires completely decorating and I cant go splashing £450+ on wheels.

So........ (I expect to get flamed a bit here but) I found some Dotz Mugello wheels. 17"X8" Tick. ET32 5x100 Tick. Lightish at 9.5kgs Tick.

Only issue with these wheels is that they are currently polished and have a dish. You need to use your imagination a bit here but imagine these wheels refurbed and powder coated in anthracite and with Audi centre caps and I think they'll look quite good.

As you can see they look much better without the Dotz centres and I've highlighted the worst scuff on them so they should refurb up ok.

My only concern is that the spoke design wont clear my brembos. The GF is out in my car at the moment so I cant check until she's back.

hmmmmmm, potential good buy if they fit!

Problem with dished wheels is that it pushes the spokes inwards as you know.....

Fingers crossed they fit mate. what happened to the Monzas? I might be tempted.

    Well, the hunt goes on!

Just did a trial fit and it's not even close spokes touch the calipers and the rim is close to the strut, I give up.

They would be fine with a 10mm spacer but I don't want that so these are now up for sale.

Nope Monzas hit the calipers too but they were ET35 so I knew it would be pushing it.

Have you tried calling rimstock directly? I know when I wanted a set of pro race 3 for my track Punto, they done me a good price without tyres as I was buying straight from them.
    Just an idea.

If they need a bit more persuading, I'm also on the hunt for a set of pro race 1.2 or the newer 1.3 I think. So maybe worth an ask if they will do a better price for 8

I'd been on their website and they were going to cost me around £450 which I don't really want to spend as I only want some wheels for track use, which is rare at the moment. It might be worth a phone call if there's a few of us I suppose.
