Its hard to explain. If you cut a 45deg edge into one the sides and weld that to the end tank, so in theory you would have a 90deg bend with a tighter radius. Do you see what I am trying to say.

Bottom line here is that sometimes you have to sacrifice things if you want performance, especially so if you are on a budget of any kind. If cost was no object then you would have a cooler fabricated to the EXACT requirements for you to be able to keep the fogs. But most of the time that's simply not realistic.

It's the same in all walks of life.

PCs for example, unless you are willing to spend BIG money, you will not really get good reliability, good performance and small size. That's just how it is. If you are on a budget you have to trade some stuff off against other things.

Westy, I was thinking about your fog lights.
I'm not sure if you thought about it or its been discussed but can you mod or use the fog light grills/holders from a A4?
I think they are on the out side of the bumper and away from you pipes.

the problem with the core and what you are trying to achieve is the outlet of the core is not at the bottom of the core, its up a couple of inches.. so does'nt sit in the lower recess like Tufftys/Danes. the outlets can be as large as 63mm allow bends.. but must be right in the sweet spot in the lower recess of the bumper. to get this core to outlet at that position, the bottom of the core will stick out below your bumper.

    Hmmm, talk to me.

I've hacked the cack out of my bumper and there's no longer any brackets/clips so it might be difficult now.

re foglights.. I have seen someone buy the aftermarket fogs mounted on their own brackets, which look very Oe at a glance but are smaller brackets..

That is true. You'd have to cut a slot in the bottom of the bumper to allow it to hang down and then you risk catching it on speed bumps.

The way mine is fitted means that the bumper goes back on fine with the bottom of the bumper fitting sweetly over the bottom of the core.

To be honest I'm kind of happy with the way the bumper looks now i've filled in the holes. It sounds like a load of hassle re fitting fog lights when they dont even get used plus I have 2 huge silicone hose poking out the front of my car which kind of blows the stealth aspect out the window

    Cheers Scott.

They're pretty similar to the S3 grills in that the light goes on the outside. When I trimmed my grills as seen in the pic below I used the right grill on the left and left on the right:

Fitted a service kit for my 007P DV today. It's 3 years old and never been done. The valve was pretty dirty so I gave it a good clean first then replaced the seals and piston. Not sure if it's made any difference but it's peace of mind really as it's a fairly important valve!

Benn thinking about your fmic westy, could you not use straight 76mm to 63mm reducers and then use 63mm aluminium 90 bends instead? Would that not keep it tighter but also not be as bulky as the 76mm reducing elbows?

Its impossible to keep the fogs with 76mm pipework mate. If you see mine or Welly's cars at any point you'll understand why

Yep, even if I did what you say

The core only just fits in the gap between the radiator and the bumper so the end tanks bulge out too much to have the pipework in the lower bumper recess. Therefore you have to have the pipework poking out the fog holes. Even with my direct 90 degree bends it wasn't enough to clear the fog light brackets.

Ok tonight I fitted the jetex heatshield that Tam made for me. Wicked looking heatshield and it fits as tight as a flee's back doors!

Anyway as usual, here's some pics

Heatshield and 80mm 90 degree silicone:

Jetex and MAF out the way:

Notice how clean my TIP is without venting oil and sh!te back into it:

    Heatshield and MAF in place:

New silicone hose trimmed to fit:

    Jetex back in:

Complete with engine and battery cover back on:

This is the penultimate thing on my car for the moment Just got to fit my Brembo calipers and I'm done

Out of interest what material is your heat shield made from? Its just I am using one made from alliminium, after just a short drive the heatshield gets so hot I dont think it does anything in the way of shielding heat away from the Jetex!!

I'm not sure but I think it's thin steel painted matt black. Tam's one has been on his car for a while now and it seems ok. Im also hoping that my cold air feed will come into play a bit more now too.

They aren't very hard to make if you can be arsed...

DIY heat shield - for under 20?

I used steel instead of aluminium which is doesn't heat up too much. Will obviously be much better once I've got a FMIC so that I can pipe a cold air feed in.

Still need to spray mine, black looks so much better!

I have to agree with superkarl here. Red is a bit homo no? I am all for black and OEM+, especially here when the old bill are really hot on any mods.
