Just wondering if it is worth changing the timing belt tensioner damper, part number
06B 109 477 (i think!) audi a3 1.8t AGU

if i do change it has anyone used the Febi bilstein tensioner from euro car parts £67

Audi want £87

Thanks

In a word.... yes!

These don't get changed (typically) as part of a dealer belt change and I have seen them fail... the damper can leak and I have seen the damper sink into the alloy carrier (there will be a gap between the damper seal and the circlip) both of which lessens the travel and allows the belt to slip...

I have seen a friends car trash a head due to this...

These should be changed as part of a cam belt service IMO...

^^ what tufty said!

Ive seen a TT trash an engine because of the same fault

Yep just do it mate, I have just had mine done with my most recent cambelt change.

they make OEM stuff for VAG so I would think so yeah... prob find when it arrives its got 2 machining marks on it where the VAG part number and Audi rings have been machined off
