Newly painted calipers... With pics.

Happy Easter to all at Audi-Sport, hope your enjoying the weather.

Well the time has come and I've just spent most of my easter sunday painting my calipers and cleaning my wheels, followed by a BBQ and some cold beers..

Here are the pics.....

Cleaned inside and out...

Oh I would like to add, if I had silver or black paint I would have done the carriers and the holding pins either of those but reds good for now...

Front Wheels and calipers all done.

Again I'd like to have done the carriers black....

Rears all painted and clean.

All polished and painted. Job well done if I dont say so myself...

Good job that pal they look well behind your wheel. Think I might do mine next week when I have a go at polishing my wheels! What paint did u use?

Thanks Wayne1.8t, i just use hammerite smooth paint. Got two lots of the 250ml tins and have only used 1/4 of 1 tin. I did 1 caliper at a time. Just did a quick once over with a small wire brush, one coat of paint, then washed the wheel in and out with some swafega alloy cleaner then back of to give the caliper another coat then stuck the wheel back on. I worked round all four wheels in the same way. It took about 4-5 hours in total with little breaks inbetween tho.

I used a brush, the brush marks dont show, i didnt take off the calipers and housings so its not the best of finishes..

I'm going to try spraying, chosen gloss black for mine after the subtle look, brush marks aren't visible might try brushing if I get frustrated

Edit: just noticed your last pics they must not of loaded up b4.... They look great not sure what colour to go for myself.. Yellow or red I was thinking.. Hmmmm

I think it depends what colour your car is. I put a post up a few weeks ago and asked for opinions. Red came up alot. I'm glad I went with red, it does suit the car. Yes a brush can be messy, I found a small ish one about 1/4 to 1/2 in wide. Was a cheap one tho but done the job.

Nice work i did mine last week, used hammerite aswell. Using a brush is the only way to do it imo, the spraying doesn't seem to stick well

Did my front ones today I took the calipers off to do them. I've put them back on but have no brakes.
I'm going to bleed them as I lost a little fluid.
Do I just bleed the 2 calipers or the master cylinder or do I do both???

You should be ok to just bleed the calipers youve took off. I'd make sure you don get to much fluid on your freshly painted caliper tho as brake fluid is a great paint stripper. A good wat to bleed your brakes is to get hold of an empty plastic milk bottle and lid (one of the small ones, think there 500ml) and put a piece of pipe (fuel hose) through the lid. Fuel hose is the right size to fit over the bleed nipple quite snug. This way all your fluid will go into the bottle and you'll be able to see any air as youll get bubbles in your bottle.

Great thanks alot I'll do it in the morning, gona do my backs aswell didn't have time today. Hopefully won't be as dirty as the front they were a pain to clean up.

Got them finished today. Spent most of the day bleeding my brakes which wasn't fun had trouble with the nuts on the bleeding nipple. All good now
Just gona keep them clean now I don't fancy doin it again in a hurry.
