I know how to get the slots. There might be some screws behinds the slots, but not sure how to get the actual vent out completely.

No screws mate, I removed all the 'slats', there's two sets in there on each side. Once removed, I put my hand in and yanked it out. ELSA states that the vents can be pulled out using a 'U' shaped tool, I didn't have one so went down the usual drastic route!

Don't forget that there will be some cabling that is attached for the illumination too - remove the cover under the steering wheel and lie in the footwell with a torch to locate it after loosening the vent (you'll be able to see where the light seeps through). Good luck!

There will be little connectors for the lights in the wheels that open or close the vent, they light up red remember

You can remove the slats by bending the slightly and pulling them. They are only held in by tiny bits of plastic at each end. Don't be too fragile with it, they're quite strong.

They only come on with the illumination mate, I would run a little exta wire (using an in-line fuse) direct to the fusebox where you can find a IGN controlled 12v+.

I plumbed my guage into the switch for the lights to the right of the steering wheel. I've wired it in so that it comes on with ignition and stays on.
