I've just bought a bailey dv30 DV.

One question....

I've seen loads of posts where people are saying they need to be fitted upside down :uhm:

Is this true or is it just reverse of the original valve, for example hose 1 goes to part 1 on the dv...etc ?

Thanks ;)

Some people fit there D/V in reverse because it makes a louder rice burner noise i believe, i have never tried so I couldn't tell u if its benifitial but I wouldn't of thought so mate

just fit it the same way as standard. if u have an induction it will whoosh. if you put it the other way it makes a high pitch ping noise and a lil whoosh.

to me it just sounded broken! lol :)

Thanks guys ;)

Yeah, i think ill just stick with the standard way, i just wasn't sure what the standard way was after reading the other posts.....lol

I finally got round to fitting this and I'm having a few problems....

In the lower gears I'm getting a REALLY BAD flutter when the valve dumps. After driving for a while it seems to get better.

Also the turbo doesn't seem to whoosh me forward like it did before.

Could it be that the valve needs a bit of grease??

Is the valve new or you get it second hand

I got it off a mate of a mate .......lol

It was working when it was last fitted but it has been off the car for a while.

Do you think this grease would be ok:

The shop where i bought it said its high temp bearing grease but i cant find out anything about it on the net :(

Do you guys think some castrol LM grease would be any good ?

No point fixing something if it ain't broke, put it on the car first, see how it is. I've had a DV30 for a few years now, still working fine :)

Any general purpose grease would be ok mate. Aslong as its clean, put a small amount round the inside where it seals and ensure the piston moves up and down the bore freely. Job done

I've already fitted it mate (post 5) ;)

Thats the problem mate, everyone is trying to sell me just grease but not high temp grease :(

I had a look down the barrels (what the hoses go on...lol) and it does look really dry and sooty down there.

Do bailey do a service kit for the DV30 ?

Bailey sell their valves on the point that they are rebuildable, so I would have thaught they do a kit for them, but I can't say for sure.

on the forge 007p dv the grease is red grease. not sure where you can get this stuff

Seriously, the grease isnt specialist or anything. General purpose grease, simples. Worked on the few ive had with no problems.

I think the grease that comes with the forge service kits is mobil 1 (good luck getting that...lol)

I was going to go for the LM grease but I've found out that its not good on the rubber parts of the valve, so I then thought I would go for the castrol red rubber grease but I can get that either.

I'm now going to wait until tomorrow and go to my local plumbers shop and buy some high temp plumbers grease.

Wish me luck...lol

good luck mate or send forge a email they might be able to sale you a sachet of grease. that they use in there kits

Thanks mate ;)

I was actually thinking about giving bailey a call tomorrow.

Ill let you know how i get on :)

Normal poly grease or something along those lines will be fine, as said before.

Sorry mate, i don't want you to feel like your being ignored but i want to get some grease that can withstand the high temps as well as being ok on rubber ;)

I just got off the phone to bailey motorsport and they said i would need to send it back in to them at a cost of £40.

When i asked them what grease they use, he said that they use grease made for lubricating helicopter blades and the reason they use it is because its meant to be able to withstand the high pressure and temps.

He also said that he thinks the closes thing i would be able to get over the counter would be a fully synthetic engine oil.

I still think a grease like forge use would be ok if i service it regularly, so I'm going to go to my local plumbers in a few minutes.

A bit of progress....lol

I phone a car shop I've not used in over 10 years to see if he had the red rubber stuff, the person i spoke to(old guy) said he's not been asked for it in years but he knows a specialist that may be able to get him some and to call him back in 5 minutes, when i called him cack he said he will have it for me at 3:30 today :)

So I've stripped the dv down and gave it a clean and polish.

Here's what it looked like when i took it apart (i don't think I've seen any pictures of the DV30 stripped down):

And this is it after a clean and polish:

Now lets just hope that this is all the DV needs to sort out the problem....lol

Im on my way to the shop now, and while sitting here in traffic I was thinking.......

Shouldn't there be some sort of a seal on the lid of the DV?

Just got back....lol

Here's the stuff:

I think it should have an o ring, mine is a milltek very similar and has an o ring to seal..

Hmmmm.....

I had a look at a forge rebuild and it doesn't seem like they have one.

Ill see if i can find someone that rebuilt the DV30

???

I've just been searching around on the net to see if i could find somewhere that sells the compression o-ring and and an angled part that the hose goes on. and i come across a thread on the mkivs forum where someone said that a the springs in the forge 007 can be used in bailey dv30 .

Does anyone know if this is true??

Re fitted the DV today and the flutter has gone :)

I'm sure i can hear a new noise now but everyone is telling me its in my head....lol

It comes in after the dump sound and is a bit of an echo type of sound (i know what i mean....lol).

Also I've had to keep the engine cover off as it was causing a fold in the hose on top of the dv.

I'm now on the look out for a elbowed version of this:

I've managed to find a elbow for the valve but it says that it can withstand temperatures up to 110oC .

Do you think this will be ok as the valve does get really hot?
