Oil choice

Hi everyone,

I'm putting a list together of parts required for my annual service, i'm about to choose the oil and 5W40 has been recommended on a number of threads. However, on eurocarparts there is Valvoline (4L = £40) and Carlube (5L = £20). What do people think of Carlube, should I stick with Valvoline?

Its a motorfactors that deals in VAG parts.

If you buy the VAG stuff its called Quantum Platinum.

I've used carlube stuff for years and it seems fine. My old 1.8T with a knackered oil pump ran for 40k miles on Carlube 5w40 Fully Synth oil. I change it every 5k though.
