Key fob programming (resyncing)

I've got a spare that for an A3 that doesn't work probably due to no battery power. Is there a manual procedure to reprogram it to open the doors etc? With my BMW there is a manual procedure involving using another key and then syncing them all at once.

I've searched but can't seem to find a definitive answer for this! It's a 2007 car with the chunkier 3 button flick blade keyfob.

Did you mean to post this in the 8L section? you must have an 8P if its 2007

On the 8L I think you press the button then lock/unlock using the key, that resyncs the key. It'll be in the manual for definate.
