You 3 know how to fill up a thread dont ya!

JD I'm also like to recommend an elise as a weekend car. I loved mine but I tried to use it as an every day car and that was horrible. One day I'll get myself an elise S2 for the weekends.

Lol at you lot! The reason I will stick around on the forum and post the occasional jibe on Tim's facebook wall about his new car

Well after a bit of thought, I think I might be in the market for a 350Z. I know that doesn't sound like much of a weekend car to some, but it will be to me. 3.5l of V6 goodness, but still OK to to go the shops in and motor back up North

I think the steering feels vague. But I think I just haven't got use to the feel from a go kart Renault Clio to the bigger boaty Audi. I know they are known for not having an amazing amount of feel but this did catch me by surprise!

I think you will find it's a trait of most Audi's/VAG cars, and it doesn't get any better when power steering becomes more electric.

If its only intended for the weekend then why go with a clio. Clio as a daily practicle hot hatch I'd understand but not as weekend toy

If you want a drivers weekend car with excellent feedback in steering and braking get an S1 Elise. Even better get one that has had either the Type R or the 1.8T engine conversion.

The Elise is quite a possibility actually. I like the idea of soft top as well.

M3 have been looked at, but I worry about buying a car like that with the mileage I'll be looking at. The S3 can be expensive if things really go wrong, but an M3 would be a nightmare.

I will never go Renault again, sadly. AWFUL build quality and customer service was just dispicable. Three engine wiring looms in the first 9 months of ownership and they could not have cared less. If I had been in work, I would have been fired for the amount of time I had to take off from school/Uni.

Those E46 M3 are built very well, a mate of mine had one and he drove it hard, never let him down, he then got one of the first v8 m3 and had no end of trouble with it.

S2000 would be another I'd consider looking at.

Have you had a wee glance at the insurance for them? I love them and almost bought one. Then thought "insurance costs", had a look, 2,300 (24, 5NCB, no points/accidents). Madness. The S3 is only 630!

The Elise wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I owned one for 10 months and used it as a daily driver through rain or shine (you'd have to be mad to use it in snow)! The only reall issue I had was with the clutch piston siezing and needing a load of oil to get it loose again.

I don't see it as a weekend toy either Dave, so discounted them.
