I've owned my S3 now for around 5yrs and in that time i've had some minor issues and some (quite alot really) major issues!

Along the way i've started threads that i've tried to make informative as possible for everyone incase they ever have similar problems. I've done this thread mainly so i don't have to keep starting new threads every week, if i do something or am planning to do something i'll be posting it up on here, it'll help others and it'll help me learn also.

Below are all the threads i have started where i've had something done and the problems that i have come across.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me up till now, there's still more to happen, my problem is a analyse everything too much so it takes me longer to choose:think:

Good Idea mate, what's the next thing you've. Got planned for her?

Good idea mate, whens your new chip coming?

It'll be getting a standard map (chip) put on then it'll be getting a custom map in around May/June, he's mega busy mapping for racing session :(

Anyone got an idea of how to remove the board so i can have a look inside

Ok, just taken the board off, good news, i now know what map i have! woo hoo!!:w00t:

I'll be contacting AMD this week :)

Strange, must have been a very early map? I'm pretty sure mine was mapped through the OBD port @AmD, like 7 years ago!

Very strange!! I'll have to ring them and have a chat, the only thing i can think if is thatthe car was chipped very early it's in life?? Must be why when i drove yours it felt similar lol

Or maybe it's not an AmD map, there's a company called AMD out there that make microchips! lol

Nice find mate, is it write protected then

Protected from Revo and APR as they're the ones that have tried to flash the ecu, i'm sure AMD will be able to sort it out

Is there a AMD dealer in Leeds Dave, the previous owner was from Leeds i think

I had an Amd map on my car 2-3 years ago and Jabba mapped over the top of it with no problems...

Spoke to Carl at Revo and told him what my issue is, he advised me to remove the ECU take it down to Awesome so they can send it to him. Revo will put a chip in with a standard file, send it back to Awesome, then they'll be able to flash the ECU and wack stage 2 on

Opinions, Shall i go for it??

Still waiting for AmD Leeds to respond to my email/phone call, i also emailed Superchips asking if they keeps records of cars that have had their maps put on

Do it.

Alex have you run stage 2? What are lambda factors like normally on stage 2 Revo? I guess it'll vary on boost and how well everything is flowing? My g/s reading are currently 230g/s just under 6000rpm, would this increase with stage 2/ Bill's 3"tip?

I never ran Stage 2 on the S3 mate to be fair, so I can't help you. Also, my S3 is narrowband lambda so any reading I might have had wouldn't be of any use.

Not sure the Stage 2 would make much difference in reality, maybe some extra boost lower down. However I would certainly expect the g/s to go up with the addition of a 3" TIP. It is simply able to get more air.

And don't call me Alex... lol. Only my mother calls me that, not even my missus. :slap:

I'm scared of driving my car at the moment because how lean it's running, i got some BKR7E's mid week, pulled them out this morning to have a quick look, they looked white!! the 6's have been out back in

Will post some pictures of the 7e's for everyone to have a look at

No offence meant bud, honest. It's just weird for me is all...

Anyway, how come the car is running that lean? White plugs never a good thing. Photos would be useful.

I know that feeling, I had white plugs after my FPR hose dies. I was taking the head off the next day and was genuinely worried about what I would find... lol.

It's got a poo map which is only good for a standard S3 with the standard hardware, i've got no split hoses/boost leaks and generally the cars seem to be running 'ok' but who knows what's going on inside

Might sound daft but in 5yrs of ownership i have never actually had a build up of carbon on my exhaust tip, i could leave it for 6 months and i'd get a tiny bit which is probably dirt tbh lol

LOL, I wish that was the case for mine. I have to clean mine every wash. I get residue all around over the top from the flames it spits out. Cool, but a royal pain in the ****.

Not sure how tuner map the 1.8T but I know on alot of ford/jags/vauxhalls tuners leave the emissions region of the map along (1000 - 2500), wouldnt be surprised if the 1.8T would be mapped the same.

So during that region the map runs as standard with standard lamdba values etc so if the 1.8T are mapped in the same way, driving in that zone will give you standard values figures of lambda 1 so no need to worry about running lean, just a thought.

Lets be fair, it's not epic lean. I was expecting to see some proper whiteness there. They aren't great I grant you, but they aren't that bad.

I would certainly stay off the loud pedal until it's resolved.

Any idea of your AFR?

They need additional fuel. Lambda 1 is fine for cruise, but it's too lean for high boost WOT applications. Lambda 1 being up in the 14.5s, ideal AFR for these engines is down in the 12s, around 12.5.

Westle's issues with his fuelling was simply that. The ChippedUK map used standard fuelling, despite upping the boost.

Ye I know what you mean welly, was referring to the emission zone of the map (1000-2500RPM) not WOT. So if sandip drove his car in the emission region he should only see lambda 1. Only saying as he was concerned about driving his car with it running lean at WOT, if he drove in that region he will be running stoichiometric.

OK, coolio. He will indeed.

As I said, the plugs aren't epic lean to be fair.

Sandip, have you changed your fuel filter lately? I am a big believer in changing them for suspected fuelling issues. Most of them that are removed are as gammy as the River Severn.

Yeah, when i got in from work and looked at them they didn't look as bad, must of had dodgy eyes this morning....

After doing the logs below the fuel filter was changed 7 days later, broke it open and it wasn't that bad really

Lambda Value Table

My lambda factors fom a recent log

Was that under full throttle? Can you stick the RPM on that log dude? At one point it's requesting lambda 1.09.... Hmmmm.

Not a good map from the above.... What map is it? Should be requesting around lambda .85

Way lean, and lots of over boost...?
