Anyone had a clutch replaced on an S3?

I got a price from the stealers and they want £1,500 for a clutch fitted!

They tell me it's an engine/transfer box out job..

I find this hard to believe but thought i'd get opinions.

Anyone had thiers done and can give me some home truths LOL.

engine doesnt have to come out gearbox and transfer box do have to come out i think they quoted £550 for just doing the clutch but as mine has done 115k i thought it best to do the flywheel aswell

It's good to hear that after 115K miles they said your flywheel looks in good nick. Mine has nearly hit 123K and I think it's on the original clutch!

yeah they said it would have been fine but for the fact the gear box is off it might as well be done at the same time

Mine cost £900 last year @ 106k after the slave cylinder failed, this was for new clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder at TTS. Its not a quick job. Steve are you having the slave cylinder changed aswell?

My flywheel had excessive play in it so had to be changed, my god thou the difference after the work was done was night and day, my clutch pedal was very heavy before the slave cylinder failed but was so light after all the work had been done.

Oh yeah without a doubt. I'm one of those people who will replace as much as possible if something else has to come out.

I did mine for £120 for a clutch and £49 for the slave cylinder, Took a full days labor but saved a whole lot of cash, Only extras were the fluids i changed while it was in bits. Had the box and transfer box off twice now and its a simple enough job if you have basic mechanical skills.

mine got done about 4 months ago by vw audi specialist cost me £200 for labour and £160 for the c&g fast road clutch,flywheel was not replaced got checked and it was fine.the car has 71k
