coolant fans come on with the air con ?

I have a 2001 A3 1.8t and have been having problems with it not getting warm. I have changed the coolant temp sensor and it didnt make much difference but have just noticed that when the air con is turned on the coolant fans come on, is this right?

Yes, the fans come on when the aircon is on. Do you mean the engine is not getting up to temp or your heaters?

the engine , if your in town it sits at between 80-90 which is fine but as soon as you get on the motorway its back down to 60 and is worse with the AC on ?

Sounds like new thermostat time then.
